My car radiator water dry frequently my mechanics told me to replace head gasket need to be replace

hi i don't know what mechanic you went to but blown head gasket will cause the engine not to idle/run right. usually when you replace the thermostate you have to then run the car obviously with water in the radiator and crack the little screw where the thermostate is located. this will allow the car to release any trapped air in the lines and you may need to keep topping up the radiator. im not a mechanic but i know alot about cars. i came across this problem in my holden ute. it was running hot and that was why. too much trapped air. easiest way is too crack that screw and remove it. run the car while keeping an eye on the radiator water level you will see if there is air in there it won't squirt water out continuously once it does run continously turn the car off put the screw back in warning it will be quite hot retop te radiatior if need and you should be good too go. it solved the same problem i had. have fun cheers

sealers usually end up costing you more in the long term than the short term. these sealers react to heat and air. so you end up doing nothing more than plugging up you radiator, water passage ports, water pumps get damaged. causing more over heating problems than they solve. no i would go for what the shop gave you as a quote. that seems a pretty reasonable quote for the position you are in.

the engine requires a head skim and rebuild possibly a piston ring or 2 also it may work out cheaper to replace engine or if your handy with spanners and socket set and have a workshop manual to follow try some of the work yourself

Another item worth checking on '92-95 V6 Camry's is the power steering fluid. The radiator fan is hydraulic and runs off the power steering fluid and power steering pump. If your fluid level is low, it might not have affected your steering, but it could have prevented the fan from coming on when necessary.
