Power Steering Last week my power steering on my 2005 Chevy Cobalt started acting up. GM should totally do a recall before someone gets seriously hurt and it would be their fault because this is a manufacturing problem.
Yes your absolutly right.
I have a 2006 Cobalt and my power steering completly failed. And this isn't a cheap fix. A quote of over $700 for a steering column replacement because these cars run electronic steering. Unless your under warrenty start searching salvage yards for working steering columns.

It has electric power steering and there is a fault with it. The ECM recognises this and won't left you drive it.
There was a recall on it.
Only 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx, and Pontiac G6 models built between April and June 2006 are included in this recall. As with the initial recall-which included the Saturn Ion, Saturn Aura, Chevy HHR, and Chevy Cobalt-the electric power steering (EPS) in these vehicles can fail at any time while driving.Feb 17, 2015
There is a recall on the power steering just call any GM place and tell the that you have a recall and would like to have it fixed and it won't cost you a dime!
The same thing happed to my 06 cobalt. The thing is that the DUMB A** at GM made the whole power steering electrical. Your going to have to change the the little computer that is located right under the steering wheel. if you go to the dealership they are going to RIP YOU OFF. What i did was i got the part at a GM junk yard, all it cost me was $200. your going to have to take the whole steering wheel of and change it. I hope i helped. GM needs to do a recall b4 someone God forbid, dies form this in an accident.
I still do like my cobalt thought lol
There is NO power steering fluid in a 06 Cobalt. It is electric! This is a flaw that GM is not willing to come to terms with. Try topix.com for the list of over 350 people that this has happened to. Also, the dealership wants YOU to pay for it. There should be a recall. VERY dangerous!
