I did a service on this car and did not replace the fuel filter.
If the check engine is not on check you're air filter and spark plug If the plug are not iridium make sure the are gap properly
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes. Check and clean anything that has to do with idle air system. Where applicable, unplug the maf sensor, then take it for a spin and see if it does any better? If it does better, something going on with maf system. Just my opinion.

That filter should be changed but your problem may be a dirty throttle body from no name brand gas that has no detergents in it change your fuel to a name brand after cleaning the throttle body with spray cleaner also check your vacuum hoses and fittings for breaks in them visually and by spraying around the lines and throttle body with the fuel injection cleaner if theres is a change in idle a loosened fastener or a leaking gasket can be suspected if all is well after doing this cleaning and inspection of fuel and emission system take out the spark plugs and check there gap between the firing pin in the center and the electrode to much air gap will cause the engine to sputter because of the engines heat will evaporate the fuel before it gets a chance to be burned by the plugs and if the gap is to far apart the explosion in the cylinders will not happen momentarily until the engine stabilizes for 5-10 seconds so you understand this a little better when you are driving the outside wind force is cooling your engine and you'll notice that when your stopped you will hear the cooling fan come on because under load/driving the engines temperature goes up but the forced wind cools it until you stop then the increased temperature makes the coolant temperature switch turn on the electric fan to cool the motor down so there could be a partial burn of the fuel causing the engine to lope (idle lowers and raises till stabile) after all is checked and eliminated as possible causes and no check engine light on? ( this was needed to be done before you start spending $$$$$$on parts) if check engine light is on go to autozone for a free code read and repair components no check engine light and you see it illuminated when you first turn the key on for systems self test and it goes off its working properly and you should now focus on the throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve because your vehicle is now 12-13 years old depending on build date on door sticker and if original parts are there they are starting to experience normal wear and service life is coming to and end and should be changed before your stuck on the side of the road at 3 a.m in the middle of nowhere needing a tow truck and now a very expensive ordeal that could've been avoided by doing it before so get this done in the next few days as fast as possible obviously I'm not there so I have given you as much info as possible without seeing it happen and being able to check myself good luck stephen

SOURCE: Idle problem for Ford Mondeo 94
Check your muffler for blockage. Does the engine heat up? A blocked muffler will allow an engine to run but acceleration is almost impossible.
SOURCE: While at idle, SOMETIMES my car jerks and feels like it will shut off.
I had that problem with another one of my vehicles. It ended up being the fuel pump. The problem was that I let the fuel level in my vehicle get to low, and that the fuel filter inside the pump had gotten debri from the bottom of the tank stuck in it and it was starving the vehicle for fuel. Eventually my vehicle wouldn't start. I had a tow truck driver tell me what the problem was. He banged the side of the fuel pump real hard and the vehicle started right up. I eventually had to replace the fuel pump.
Hope this helps.

Josh, Did you output the car's diagnostic codes before you reset the computer?
Just to confirm: your car has the "FS" engine - 1991cc double overhead cams?
built on the Mazda "GE" platform?
does your car have an "engine check light" or "MIL" on the dashboard? if so where and what does it look like and what does do ? ie: comes on when ignition is turned on & goes out after engine starts. or comes & goes out after x seconds. etc etc
are you 5sp manual or auto trans?
does your car have a diagnostic plug with a flip open lid just behind the battery near the front left suspension tower?
SOURCE: tire size for 2002 ford focus hatchback
Your ford focus had options to wheel size, If you have the 15 inch wheel the original tire size is 195/60-15 and if you have the 16 inch wheel option your tire size is 205/50-16. Good luck and hope this helps.
SOURCE: How do you remove the rear light cover in order to
Open the hatch and look to the side of the housing, there should be a tab sticking out of the side of the assembly with a screw securing it in place (It's between the trim seal and the assembly). Then in the inside of the hatch, look up to where the assembly would be, and there should be a long cylindrical nut (it's made of plastic and will have a metal center for the threads). Remove this and then you can pull the entire assembly off. You won't have a lot of room though because the wires are relatively short.
