Sounds like a wire issue as when u lower it u pull the connector out just so it does not make contact with the ign or ur pinching a fuel line. The other issue might be a faulty oil sensor . Check ur oil level. If its a 2 stroke disregard that

If this is a gas engine, check the ignition coil or plug wires. A simple test...

Start the truck at night, then look under the hood while it's running. Don't use a flashlight or your headlights; it should be dark !

If you see sparks anywhere around the engine, you've found the problem. Now you can turn on a light to see where they're coming from - probably from a cracked ignition coil.

Good luck !

SOURCE: Service engine soon is on and the truck idles low when cranked.

Take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve the fault code(s) stored in the computer. Most stores offer this service at no charge. The codes will help identify the problem. Sounds like a faulty Idle Air Control (IAC) valve to me, but the codes will narrow the reason down. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Just rebuilt boat motor replaced crank pistons reeds and bored it 30 over decked the heads and after the break in process It will only run 55 at 5000rpm and before it ran 72 at 5800rpm whats wrong.

If you made no changes to the fuel injection computer to tell it that the displacement has changed from boring the cylinders 30 over, it will not know to add more fuel from the injectors. Engine displacement is programmed in at the factory.

My 2001 mercury sable has new altinater, battery, and spark plug but won't fire up.What could be the problem?

Are you getting fuel pressure? You have an inertia switch in the trunk and it might need reset(push the red button down). It shuts off the electric fuel pump in case you have an accident or get bumped hard.Sometimes they just actuate for no known reason.
Also crankshaft position sensor could be dead. Have you run the engine codes? don-ohio (:^)
