2003 Chev. Silverado 4X4 Z71. When A/C is on it runs fine sitting still. While driving down the road it clicks bad. I changed the belt tensioner but still doing it.
Is the air coming out of the vents cold?
ok, sounds like you need to charge your system. if I'm understanding you right. Im pretty sure you should use R-134a go to auto zone or advance auto and buy the can of freon with gauge to check and charge the system yourself and follow directions on the can. Do not over fill. you'll have 2 ac lines that have ports on them. May have colored caps may not if so one probably is blue the other red. The port with the blue cap is the low side that where you chargwe it at. If caps are black it will be the line that is the bigger of the two.

The noise stops with the AC off, I only hear it when the AC is on. It still cools, but doesn't seem to be as cold as it used to be. It doesn't do it all the time. Seems worse when the AC is on and you increase the RPM's whether you are sitting still or driving down the road, is fine when idling.
sounds like the ac clutch is about to go out,Does it cool real good going down the road?does it cool good at idle? And are you sure it is the ac compressor?
