Rear left turn signal?
I suggest that you have a bad ground. A very common thing.
Where the screws go through the metal case of the taillight, and into the body of the van.
Those holes in the van body, and the screw threads, might be rusty, or corroded. They need to be rust/corrosion free for a good ground.
On the back of the metal taillight casing, where the screws go through, is a 'boss'.
A protrusion from the metal taillight casing, that mounts up against the metal body of the van.
The contact area of this boss, plus the area on the van body where it touches, must be rust/corrosion free.
When you apply the brakes you are lighting up lights that use 30 Amps. If the ground source is bad, (Rusty/Corroded contact areas), for those light casings, you won't have enough ground for the brake lights, and turn signals at the same time.
For a test to see if you have a bad ground, use a jumper wire, (22 gauge wire from an old lamp cord, or 18 gauge wire stranded wire that you may have laying around), and connect one end to a mounting screw head of the taillight. Connect the other end to a good ground source. (1.A clean area on the frame. 2.Under the head of a bolt on the frame. 3.Some clean non-painted surface, that you can attach the end of the wire securely)
Now ignition on, apply the brakes, and turn the left turn signal on.
Works?
Bad ground.
(It isn't a turn signal stat, because this would affect both turn signals. Left And Right)
