One day my 1998 Ford Windstar 3.0 suddenly became hard to steer at low idle. I replaced the power steering pump, pulley, and fluid and still hard to steer. Can anyone tell tell me what could be the problem.
Rack and-or pinion... Good thing the 98 is a very good and popular windstar, its not as bad as it sounds.
After replacing the p/w pump-you need to bleed the system. The way to do that is to start your engine, turn the steering wheel back and forth without hitting the STOPS about 3 to 4 times checking the fluid level in between and add fluid if needed, continue to turn the steering another three to four times. check the fluid if it still ok-then you are done. take the vehicle for test drive...
