I didn't drive the car for about 2 weeks. So when I tried to drive the car all of a sudden the check engine light is on and the idle rpm is really low and when left idling it will stall given enough time. When I try to restart the engine it has little trouble, and it needs a push on the accelerator to get started. But then it tends to stall out even faster.
I noticed that when the rpm is close to 1,000 and it would drop below slightly the engine would rev itself to get it back to 1,000 but if it fell below 900 rpm the engine would ignore it and let it stall.
I noticed that the engine rpm was dropping slowly for a while but I didn't think much of it.
If you have an idea how much it would cost to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Drive it to Autozone or similar place and ask them to scan the car because the "check engine light is on". Most likely it will be a TPS switch. In area of $30 for part. It takes about 20 minutes to do. Most of time spent getting to part. But see what scan shows.
Yes. You remove the air filter and ductwork to get to the metal "airhorn". This part has a big butterfly flap in front where the air comes into the engine. The shaft that operates the TPS goes through the Butterfly and usually on the right side. You will see a small part about the size of a cigarette lighter with 1 electric plug and 2 screws.
Remove the screws and the part comes off easily, just match the slots on the TPS with the butterfly shaft and reassemble.

I borrowed an engine diagnostic computer, and I get the error code p1121, which is either the MAF sensor or the TPS.
Is it easy to replace the TPS?
