Code P2070, IMT valve stuck open. How do I go about finding what the potential problem is? Where is the IMT valve and how difficult is it to replace?
Hi
SSV is the secondary shutter valve - different term for a similar issue.
IMT = Intake Manifold Tuning
P2070: Intake Manifold Tuning (IMT) Valve Stuck Open.An intake manifold tuning (IMT) valve is used to change the intake manifold plenum configuration. When the IMT valve is open, the intake manifold is configured to one large plenum. When the IMT valve is closed, the intake manifold is configured to 2 smaller plenums. The IMT valve improves engine performance at low and high engine speeds depending on the engine load.
The valve is situated on the inlet manifold on your engine.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this answer. Many Thanks.
Check the vacum supply to the IMT, if itr is ok replace the valve.
I found this about po660 and hope it helps:
Intake Manifold Tuning Valve circuit Malfunction.
Description:
The IMTV system is monitored for failure during continuous, key ON
engine OFF or key ON engine running self-test. The test fails when the
signal on the monitor pin is more or less than an the expected
calibrated range.
Causes:
IMTV signal circuit open, shorted to PWR GND or SIG RTN
Damaged IMRC actuator
Damaged PCM
Location:
The location of the imtv is opposite the
throttle body connected to the intake manifold. From what I understand
the cel should not be lit. Is that right?
Not sure on warranty.
If I find the repair manual, advise to you, but I need more details about car model.
Good luck!!!
Hi..
I think it is SSV instead of IMT valve.
P2070 (SSV Stuck Open). This may be caused by carbon build up near the SSV bushing, which may cause driveability concerns (hesitation and / or lack of power) and / or DTC P2070. A cleaning procedure and a revised SSV with stronger actuator force.
Thanks

Your reply (SSV instead of IMT valve), what does SSV stand for and where is it on my 2007 Saturn Relay? What is the recommended method of cleaning the carbon from this component?
Thanks,

rixsfixes,
Thanks for the information, but I am looking for something more specific on the location of the valve on my Saturn Relay. Is it near the air intake of the manifold? Is it the large spring loaded "valve" with a four wire connector located in the aluminum neck of the intake plennum? I have removed the cover of this unit, it has a couple gears in it that appear to be working fine. Is this the IMT or do I need to look somewhere else?
Still unable to positively locate the IMT. That is what I am trying to find out.
