You should be able to have an auto parts store check the engine computer for trouble codes. The codes would direct a mechanic as to what to check next.
those vehicles are common for starters did two today alone when it wont start try to tap it with a hammer it on the back side of the engine under the intake if it starts replace starter
If the engine fires up for a second or two with starting fluid then the fuel pump is weak.I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the pump and filter.
