Yes it can affect one side, if drums it could be the wheel cylinder but if discs then it could be a trapped stone or lever / cable fault.
If it is related to the light on the dash that light would have been Red not Orange. I would not worry about the light at this stage as it has now gone out.
Peugeot engine's have an alamenium cylinder head's and are easily damaged by overheating and for this reason the sensor's for coolant temp. are sensitive and any small abnormality in temp. will cause a warning. If the light bothers you then put a summer thermosatat in it this will leave it running cooler but it's nothing to worry about.
