I just bought an old trailer '94 and when I hooked the lights up it worked fine except for the ''R'' on my gear indicater would flash when my turn signal flashed, After 20 Miles the turn signals stopped working and also the A/C and Recicle buttons would not light up. Dash gear indicator lights out, no air coming through dash vents. Park release selinoid not releaseing gear shifter. Running lights, brake lights and Hazzard lights all WORK. What fuse do i need to change?

Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.
lights on the trailer are supposed to only work when the vehicle has its lights turned on. brake light problems is easy to figure out. it should run off a yellow wire for driver and a green for passenger. see if you have power with brake on. if so check the bulb. if not then check your 4 way flashers which run off the same general circuit. if 4 ways work but no brake lights double check your converter connections.
is trailer lite fixture grounded good try and wiggle fixture when u hit signal. next try wiggle pig tail on trailer , still no signal. it must be wire from truck, trace back to connection and check all splices. to see if signal light works on trailer unhook pigtail and get a battery charger or another battery, connect a jumper from positive side to signal spot on trailer hook up. hook up ground as well see if light works if not its in the truck for sure.
I would check the trailer light wiring to make sure it doesnt have any wires that are exposed or touching metal.Odds are that is what is causing the fuse to blow
Is this a 4 way or 6 way connection system? If your truck is wrong, then all factory equipped trailer package harnesses would be wrong, tell your trailer guy...I don't think so.
Is this the first trailer you have hauled?
Let me know, and we will go from there.
REgards,
The fuses and relays for the trailer are isolated from the regular running lights, I believe the fuses and relays are in the underhood power ditribution box.
