Fuel pump is weak and/or fuel filter is bad and restricting flow. When fuel gets down less gravitational force and pump is required to push harder. restrictions to line, as in the case of possible bad fuel filter, results in fuel starvation for the engine.

What is a possible reason for a 455 motor to barely want to accelerate rpm's? It stalls, cuts out, and will die. But also always smell gas from motor?

Make sure your exhaust system is not clogged. If the exhaust gases cannot exit freely it will cause lots of problems. If the engine has a carb it is possible that your float is stuck and is causing the engine to flood. Also make sure that air filter and related intake is not clogged, lack of air into engine will cause problems.

2000 gmc 1500 truck ran out of gas filed up won't run. Starts than dies . Tried it for an hour still no luck. Don't think it's the fuel pump but not sher

sounds like the fuel line still has air in it. this should correct itself if you can get the engine to run long enough. fuel pressure builds on the pump side of the fuel rail and when there is an exess ammount of pressure (lack of fuel consumption) the fuel regulator should send the extra gas back to yhe tank to run thru again. try holding down on the accelerator when starting this should send extra fuel to the injectors and may help "prime" the line. you cant flood the engine so dont worry about that just dont over rev the cold engine. this should clear up on its own. the only other thing it could be is an obstruction in the fuel filter or the inlet sock on the in tank pump. if thre was a lot of sediment in the tank it got sucked up withe the last bit of gas in the tank, you may have to change out the filter.
