Door ajar and brakelamp lights on dash go on randomly for no reason, sometimes very bright, and sometimes not so bright. At first it would come on for a few seconds. Now it seems to be happening more and staying on longer.

The brakelamp could mean brake probs or brake light needs repairing for the door ajar it could mean that the censor in the door isn't reading properly. It could also be a short in the dash wiring.

The switch that turns the interior lights on when you open the door also controls the door ajar sound and light on dash board now that switch
Is either in the door hing or it's a pin switch that sticks out of the pillar post that switch is going bad you have to locate it and replace it hope this helped
The door ajar lamp is illuminated because one of the door latches is hanging up. Have some open and shut each door repeatedly until you find the door that is the problem. Liberally spray a WD40 type of spray around the latch mechanism on the door side. Repeat this on all doors.
I do not think all the problems are related, but this will fix the door ajar problem.
Make sure that the thumbwheel that makes dash lights brighter/dimmer is not all the way to bright. That will turn on dome light. Check fuse block for dome light relay, pull out the relay and see if light goes out, if so try replacing the relay. Possible welded contacts? If all that doesn't work you will have to try each door switch and see if you have a bad one.
Check door switch connection and operation. If the door switch is part of the door lock mechanism, within the door itself, then remove door panel, disconnect the mechanism's electrical connector and re-check that the interior light no longer comes on with that door ajar. If it doesn't, then you likely have a faulty door lock mechanism, which you will have to replace. This faulty switch will also have the affect on your random central locking function.
This is not likely connected to the engine performance issue.
This sounds similar to my problem yesterday, where the lights were blinking on and off and the gauges going up and doing like crazy. It was the battery has lost most of its charge (only had 230CCA out of the expected 800).
Fortunately, the battery was still under warranty.
There is a tiny switch inside the door called the "Door Ajar" sensor, remove the door panel and replace that switch, it is attached to the door latch, it just twists out and back in.
To temporarily solve the light problem, I taped a washer to the inside of the door where the door hits the plunger on the light switch. A permanent solution would be to drill a hole in the door at this spot and put a self taping screw in that will trigger the switch sooner. I figured out the reason the dome light stayed on is due to the courtesy light timer and the lights would have eventually gone off.
Ok check the doors is there rubber gromet ore plastic thats missing ore dry rotted. So like when you close the door it not pressing it compleatly in just a guss for me on this one
