I have a 2013 evinrude etec 25 hp. It has only had less than 2 tanks of fuel ran through it. I took it out today and it would start but wouldn't stay running.

This is a 2 stroke engine - an outboard motor?

Two strokes are quite robust. The usual mistake people make with these engines (think of chainsaws, lawn mowers and hedge strimmers..) is to use car engine oil instead of the correct two stroke oil. Motor oil is completely incorrect and fouls the spark plug.

The other fault is to mix fuel and two stroke oil in the wrong ratio. Most chainsaws etc .. use a mix of 25:1 Too much oil causes oiling and misfiring of the plug. Too little oil causes excessive and fast wear.

Your engine starts up. That tends to suggest that everything is working ok up to a point.

However, look on the following link which deals with an overheating problem for that engine:

Took my 2007 chevy uplander to a mechanic to change oil pan gasket. now he is telling me my transmission is gone. it was running fine when i took it to him. did he do something wrong when changing the...

I would advise getting a second opinion A mechanic told me my 92 Le sabre 's tranny was shot and when I took it to another mechanic he found my spark plug wires were shorting out and causing the car to down shift when you went up a slight incline and it would jump in and out of different gears. I replaced the plugs and wires myself and it rau like new.

Seriously issued need advice on.

When you remove the sump plug to drain the oil you should always use a new copper washer gasket to seal it properly. If you have stripped the thread then there over size sump plugs available and a thread tap to suit the new size so no big deal really
Remove battery terminals and clean both posts and terminals
with sandpaper until you see shiny metal. The black coating is lead sulphate which has a high resistance to current flow both into and out of the battery. Have a load test done on the battery to check for failing cells.

Why is it leaking oil from oil filter after i did oil change??

Hello,

Not good.

Wrong filter, damaged filter or filter not tight enough.

Double check.

Did you get an oil light on dash (2 quarts low).
The computer may have shut the engine down before engine failure if you are lucky (oil light). If you did not blow your engine (sieze) and you fix the filter problem put some 'lucas' oil in your engine to help with excessive friction caused by low oil level.

I hope this helps.

1996 Honda Accord EX Manual trans. Where is oil level plug. what kind of oil?

Hi there,

All Honda manual transaxles use the Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) as the original factory fill. This oil is similar to a 10W-30 or 10W-40 viscosity engine oil, and this oil can be substituted temporarily. However, the manufacturer recommends the use of their MTF when changing the fluid.

Level Check

The transaxle fluid should be changed every 90,000 miles (144,000 km) or 6 years under normal driving conditions. In severe driving conditions the fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or every 2 years, whichever occurs first.
Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface. If the vehicle is raised, make sure the vehicle is safely supported and level

NOTE: Do not confuse the drain plug with the fill plug.
The fill plug is in the mid section of the transaxle. The drain plug is near the bottom of the transaxle.
  1. The oil level is checked by removing the oil fill plug on the side of the transaxle. The transaxle fluid should just meet the lower threads of the transaxle fill hole.
  2. Remove the oil level check bolt from the side of the transaxle. If oil runs out, or if oil can be felt near the threaded fill hole opening, reinstall and retighten the bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
  3. If the level needs to be topped off, pour oil in slowly until it begins to run out then, install and tighten the filler bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).

Took my 1996 gmc sierra 5,7 to get a oil change,, tech.after inspecting replied that they could not do oil change due to the oil plug threads possibly being stripped plug will not un screw just keep...

They make oil pan plugs for this situation. It's a bolt with a rubber spacer that expands to seal the hole when you tighten it. If the old plug is still in the pan, use vice grips to thread it out. No need to replace pan, but maybe replace the oil change shop. Guys you went to have no experience.

86 crx hf maybe carb

Turns out that itwas 2 bad plugs. Quite alot of oil on both. Checked compression and was in range for 216000 mi. Changed out plugs and it seems to be back were it was. Running ok but now am assuming that the valve seals must be going in the 2 cyl. Not smoking so also assume that the rings are ok. Steve C
