Please read the Consumer Affairs link below carefully.

My friend had a under dash fire in his Yaris. It is caused by the factory radio.

You should remove the fuse to the radio ASAP to prevent fire.

Electronic items has may points of failure. The goal of all the manufacturer is drive down cost to the sub-contractors. Lower cost components like capacitor does fail over time.

Please be wise and change the radio before getting fire or smoke damage in your car.

This article points out 2007 to 2009 Toyota. But is apply to all model years.

SOURCE: fm radio in my car stopped working

A FEW THINGS U CAN CHECK OUT ,OF COURSE MAKE SURE THE RADIO FUSE IS GOOD! IF SO MAKE SURE THE RADIO OR ITS POWER CABLE HAVEN'T LOST THEIR GROUND, IF THESE CHECK OUT OK, THEN ITS A INTERNAL PROBLEM! AND MY SUGGESTION IS TO JUST REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE,RADIOS ARE SO INEXPENSIVE NOW U CAN MOST LIKELY STEP UP TO A BETTER ONE THEN THE STOCK ONE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

SOURCE: no am reception and poor fm reception - 2004 Kia Sedona

If the antenna is on the front, pop the hood, and locate where the antenna wire connects to the bottom of the antenna and make sure it is connected well. If everything checks out there, you will have to pull the radio from the dash, and look at the back of it. There will be a large black wire by itself connected to the radio. Push it in to make sure its connected as well. That could really be your only problem unless your radio happens to have a fault on the inside which is extremely rare. Hope that helps

SOURCE: No AM radio reception in my 2002 Audi A4

do you get any stations, even weak stations on the AM band?  If not you have a bad radio and need replacement.  Try having someone hold the antenna as you scan the AM band.

SOURCE: AM reception of radio not working.

inspect antenna connection at rear gate wiring harness passthru,if this car is a wagon the rubber boot on drivers side rear gate holds the harness from getting pinched, remove this boot and inspect harness carefully you should find broken wires, repair the wires, then enjoy your a.m stations again

Rear defrost problem

I am assuming that you mean that you are receiving interference on your radio. (Your description is very unclear.)

Window-mount antennas are notorious for bad reception and allowing interference. Your best course would be to mount an after-market external antenna on one of the fenders.

The other option would be to replace the stock Yaris radio (which is very poor quality) with a BETTER after-market radio.

2007 Toyota Yaris Stereo Won't Eject CDs

you may have to use needle nose pliers to pull them out or remove the radio and open it up and remove them also take a look at the drive belt it may have broke, there are many electrionic places that will repair it if you remove it and take it to them, most of the one i run into broke a belt or 2cds were jamed inside it.

Radio doesnt work in FM mode

Before you replace it, remove it from the dash and check to see if the antenna is hooked up to it. Sometimes it can come loose and that's your problem. It's a thick black cable with a single prong out of it. It connects directly into the stereo. Good luck!
