SOURCE: 2001 FORD FOCUS SHIFTER CABLE SNAPED

You did not need to remove the heater box to replace the cable. There is a hole in the floor the cable passes through.

There is a cable that runs from the shifter to the ignition switch. Either it has broken or someone disconnected it so they wouldn't have to replace a solenoid in the shifter or switch.

2007 Ford Focus Automatic Transmission will not shift into 3rd gear. I replaced all of the soleniods and it still will not shift. Seems like it wants to but doesn't.
First thing to try is atransmissjon filter change and new fluid, if thzt doesent work you probably have lost the material on the friction plates of the reverse high clutch plates, which requires a trans. overhaul.

Hi there, if you say hard to change, does the gears grind if you change or does the shifter just feel stiff on changing???if the gears grind the clutch need checking, check the fluid level as well as it could be low, could only need to be adjusted if a cable model, most are hydraulic clutches so need to check the fluid.
