I need help I let my friend borrow my 06 Nissan Murano the other night because she locked her keys in her car so she was going to meet her son and then stop and get gas then come back while she was at the gas pumps she called I was in a meeting she was looking for the gas release so I don't know if she got any buttons before she to the keys out but she said she took the keys out then finally found release why back to start vehicle and steering wheel locked of course keys won't go past lock we have tried everything to unlock this steering wheel other than replace the lock cylinder switch but I read that on an 06 Murano if you take keys first it will lock cylinder but before then it just locks the wheel. I've not had any issues with warning of this ignition switch going out only had vehicle 6 months and I'm a single mom with a year old son without any help so can't afford this right now any opinions on of there is a release that I don't know about please let me know thanks

Check to make sure the car is all the way in park and foot is on the brake. Also, sometimes the steering wheel lock mechanism makes turning the key difficult. Wiggle the steering wheel while trying to turn the key.

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz c220 ignition will not turn.

Did you try jacking up the car at the front then wiggle the steering as you turn the key? Did you try a spare key? Spray inside the mechanism with WD40. Try putting the key in at different depths and turning.
The lock cylinder is a replace only item.

The key fob is the remote. But the remote type that works like a key. The remotes that you just need to carry on you to start the car or truck. That is a Key Fob.

Thanks Jay!

Driver door won't lock with key fob

Check the locking solenoid / actuator in the door behind the panel, could be burned out or loose wire. It should take about 20-30 minutes to open, fix it and close the door panel if there's no major problem. Autozone might be able to help out with a solenoid.

Bulb can be replaced. You can buy at Walmart or your local parts store. I recommend replacing both. They are rated for the same amount of run hours and will usually fail within the same month.

Doesn't matter, I have given up, the existing central locking components are completely different to that of the new kit, I think I will just have to put my tail between my legs and go genuine, getting a Nissan dealership to fit it for me.
