SOURCE: How do I remove the plastic shroud covering heater

Of course there are hard to reach screws and bolts in newer vehicles. The manufacturer doesn't want you fixing things yourself. Personal case, heater core in my 1992 GMC S15. The best thing to do is to get a Chilton/Haynes manual that covers your Dodge. These manuals are full of all sorts of information and have pictures and diagrams to boot.

How to change radiator 2000 dodge durango

It's actually pretty easy.
Here you go:
remove fan
remove fan shroud
open petcock and drain fluid (bottom corner of tank on engine side)
remove upper and lower hoses
remove tranny coolant lines
unbolt radiator and lift out. Reverse these steps to install the new one. Hope this helps.

Tip

How to test and replace radiator cooling fan.

Hi.

Here a tip illustrating steps to test and replace the radiator cooling fan and the parts that may cause cooling fan malfunctioning.

Before replacing the fan, make sure that the fan is really faulty.
Read volts at fan contacts or jump the fan wiring to energize the fan directly.Ensure that fan blades are not blocked.

If the fan is OK, then the faulty part is either thermostat or fan relay.Ensure also that you have tested the 15A fuse in the junction block and the 40A fuse located in the Power distribution Center (PDC).

Here a diagram showing the location of the fan relay:

Finally, here below the steps required to replace the fan. The procedure is quite simple.

  • Disconnect the battery negative cable and set it apart.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector to the radiator fan.
  • Undo the bolts that hold the top fan housing and fan assembly (this is called Radiator Shroud).
  • Remove the Radiator Shroud housing. The radiator shroud will come out with the fan sliding toward the top side.
  • Install the new fan performing the operations in reverse order.

Here a diagram showing radiator shroud and cooling fan assembly:

I own a 2003 Dodge Durango. The coolant fan stopped working. I found a plug loose near the fan. Is it possible it came unplugged? If yes, then is the plug inside the fan case? I have looked all over and...

I couldn't find the plug or wire on the diagram on my online resource, either. The fan must have a cable going to it to operate, somehow, though, I agree.
Engine Cooling Fan Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable dod_trk_reminstviscousfan.gif

    • Fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly from water pump by turning mounting nut counterclockwise as viewed from front - threads on viscous fan drive are right hand. CAUTION
Do not attempt to remove fan/viscous fan drive assembly from vehicle at this time.
Do not unbolt fan blade assembly from viscous fan drive at this time.

    • Upper fan shroud attaching hardware
    • Upper fan shroud and fan blade/viscous fan drive from vehicle CAUTION
Do not place viscous fan drive in horizontal position after removal because silicone fluid in the viscous fan drive could drain into its bearing assembly and contaminate lubricant.

    • Four bolts securing fan blade assembly to viscous fan drive.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Fan blade assembly to viscous fan drive.
      1. Torque to: 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm)
    • Fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly and upper shroud into vehicle
    • Fan shroud retaining screws
    • Fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly to water pump shaft
    • Negative battery cable

Need to replace water pump. What's the easiest way

I would attempt to take the fan blade off the water pump, then remove the fan shroud off the radiator but leave the radiator in the car.. it may take a little more finesse but save you alot of time..

200 Dodge Durango Clutch Fan

The fan shroud needs to be removed. I think there is a clip where you can seperate the bottom portion of the fan shroud to the top. Once the shroud has been removed everything is a piece of cake.

I just installed a clutch fan into my 2004 dodge durango and now the suv runs so heavy. I mean the suv runs loud. Is this normal?

Not sure what you mean by "heavy" and "loud"..

The fan might be "louder" because it may have been allot more quiet with the old failing fan clutch and not spinning fast enough.. Thus the new one working correctly making the fan spin much faster and being "louder"..
If that makes sense - to you question..
