I recently purchased an exact donor 2006 equinox for my wife's 2006 equinox. The ignition key didn't match drivers door key but truck always started fine. I wanted matching ignition key and door key ( 1 key) so I went to my local salvage yard and purchased a set from a 2006 equinox. I changed out everything and all was fine until battery when dead about a month later from not running truck. Since replaced battery but truck won't start won't even do anything. The only response I get when I turn truck over is all interior and exterior lights come on. I wish I kept old ignition but I tossed it thinking I had fixed the ignition issue. Regretting that move. What can I do now I'm sure it must have something to do with anti theif system. Is there a way to fix my problem without having truck towed to nearest dealer or an I stuck with just a parts truck now.

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Unit has a draw somewhere that needs to be addressed. I have found the auto starts sometimes can cause this. But if the draw is through the negative side it could be tough. You should take it to the dealer and have them perform a draw test on the entire vehicle.

There is a known issue with the wiring harness in the doors. It's possible that the passenger door also has a bad harness (assuming they swapped out the one in the driver's door) Is that a correct assumption? It may still be related to your original problem too. I've heard of disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to reset the electrical (door switches). You should def give that a try - it's free.

more than likely in the interlock device i have known these things to mess with all kinds of systems on cars have it checked out to make sure everything is correctly connected and that they did not hook into the security system by accident.
