On the 2010 Escapes (both engine sizes) there is NO replaceable exterior fuel filter.
The filter is incorporated within the fuel tank
You can access it under the rear seat directly behind the drivers seat.
HOWEVER ... your owner's manual says it is a lifetime filter not needing replacement:
"Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed."

It is located just under the driverside door tucked inside the frame rail.

yes it can in the message center, there should be a lenghty section on it in the owners manuel

There is no fuel filter on a transmission, however a automatic transmission does have a drain plug, it's behind the oil pan, the transmission filter is not replaceable.There is no flat pan on the underside of this vehicle and if anyone states it does, does not know the ford escape period. On a ford taurus yes.
I think this is the corrrect one for your Escape.
