I have a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I traded in on the c4c deal. I have not yet taken delivery (they are waiting for the gov't $) and my Jeep died a couple of nights ago, it was running, I stopped, parked, ran into a store, came out to restart, it sputtered and choked then died. It tries to start but won't turn over. After a tow and many tests, my mechanic says it is the fuel pump - he's getting 0 pressure from it, although the wires show power. He tried banging on the tank to jolt it for "one last start", but to no avail. We have looked at the Bosch fuel pump, but mechanic says that he has not ever replaced just the pump in these, mfg sells the whole unit (for 3x the price) and I am wondering if it is possible to replace just the pump inside the sending unit without breaking the whole thing. Thanks for any help you can provide

Thanks for the info. I finally did find a used unit. She said it was marked '94 but looks like the '95 unit in the book. So we're going to try it, assuming I get the c4c deal...

Thanks. I did find a used one. Hoping it will fit and it works! My mechanic did tell me it was cheaper for me to go to the yard and pick it up. Gotta love it!

I dont know why Chrysler did this, but yes you have to get the whole unit,it is called a fuel pump sending unit.Did you consider getting a used unit for a lot less, and if your lucky fewer miles on the part.

I have always had to replace the whole module assy. If your doing a c4c get a used assy. or buy your own and take it to the tech.

Abrupt stall

Take air intake duct off at throttle body and spray WD-40 into throttle body with plate open, then try to start, if it fires up for a second, then dies, it's a fuel delivery problem.

Broken front coil spring

There were a lot of differences between a 98 TJ (Wrangler) and a 95 ZJ (Grand Cherokee). The grand cherokee is much heavier. Now might be the time for those "Off Road" upgrades you've been waiting on. And it is a good excuse.
Have a nice day!
