Fuel pump not on when on,relay has 12 volts but not getting to pump, replace relay still not clicking when key turned on

So if you know the relay is good. Only 1 reason it won't work if you have power to it. And that's a bad ground or bad wire. The relay only click once when it first gets power and when power gets turned off and it's not loud. Not sure how your testing the parts. If you have power to your fuel pump. Is the fuel pump good and if it has a bad ground it won't work. What I do is get jumper cables to a battery and test the pump with two test leads to rule other things out. As for power from the relay. It only last while key is in the start position for 10 seconds then stops and while the engine is running. If you turn the key to run and then go test for power it may trip the relay since it's not running the engine. Hope that helps explain some things how it works. If you don't have oil pressure or low oil in the pan. The computer can also stop power to the pump so your engine won't run and destroy intself.

Ive got a 1967 Firebird with a 1968 pontiac 350 in it. It's got a problem that when you try to excellerate it just stumbles all over it self and cant get any power.

check for 2 wires crossed in the firing order --will start and idle ok but plays up when accelerated
check the power valve and the accelerator pump systems in the carby
( new means nothing and back fires destroys power valves)
use lead separators to keep ht leads apart
static btd timing has to be no more than recommended as it will cause problems at rpms.
if you have a points system the point gap and condenser are critical as well

Got a 89 nissan pickup ive change the distributor cap, sparkplugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, n core packs but it still wont crank all the fuses n relays are good n everything but i notice that im gettin

If your engine dosen`t even crank you have to first make sure the battery is fully charged. If so it sounds like it is your starter. When your starter goes bad your engine wont crank you get nothing when you turn the key.Try to start there.

sounds like fuel is running back to tank , there shud b a one way valve in fuel pump, replace pump complete this then shud b ok.

I have a 89 f250 with a fuel enjected 460 it started one day then went out to start it the next an it wouldn. All it does is fire but wont start. Ive check everything I can think of. Its like its flooding...

Must be a fuel problem, since you are getting spark. Can you hear the pump turn on when you turn the key to on? I would check the injector circuit, and if it is working, have the fuel pressure checked-might be too low from a weak or tired pump.
The injectors have a hot wire to them-always hot with key in on position. There's also a fuse for the injectors, as well as a fuse for the fuel pump. The ground wire from injectors goes into the engine computer so it can control injector pulse. A tester called a "noid light" can be used to check the injector circuit. Just plug it into the injector connector and crank the engine over. If the noid light is blinking, the circuit is working right.

Ive got a 1997 cavalier it will start but quickly dies out ive got fire to my plugs and fuel to the injectures ive just replaced the ignition switch is there somkind of a security

You need a new fuel pump relay. The engine fires up and runs off the oil pressure switch untill the oil pressure PSI is reached at normal operating conditions. When the oil pressure reaches its operating PSI the PCM or engines computer will shut off that circuit and turns on the fuel pump relay to run the fuel pump untill you shut the engine off

1999 Continental will not start

I think the anti theft anewer is correct. I have an extra key for my '99 Lincoln continental that apparently doesnt have whatever "chip" it needs in it. If you try to use that key it cranks but won't start. I don't know if the key "chip" can fail or not. Maybe a quick conversation with a lock smith will shed some light on the problem.

1995 Honda civic - Replaced a bad water pump, and the timing belt broke. replaced the timing belt, but the car don't start. Won't tun over. Help

Not at all unusual for the timing belt to break and cause major mechanical problems inside of your engine. A failed timing belt can totally destroy your engine due to the extremely close clearences. That's why the strongly recommend a preventative replacement of the timing belts in all Hondas and Toyotas at specified mileage frequencies between 70,000 and 120,000 miles. Change the timing belt before it destroys the engine. You may now be at a point where only the Honda Dealer or authorized garage may be able to help diagnose the problem.
