Likely not possible as it has an ECM. Sure... back in the good old days you could simply hotwire a coil, jump the starter solenoid and drive away.

What do you mean by 'Jump the Distributor'?
If your jump starting the vehicle you use the battery terminals. Bypassing the distributor means it won't trigger the spark plugs in the correct order.

you need test to see if you have a juice to the coil, if you do, than is not your coil. i dont know if Honda's have timing sensor, if it does that might be faulty. timing sensor sense the turning of fly wheel and tell the the computer to send juice to the coil and than it distribute the sparks to each plug. If you do have fire from the spark plugs than you may not getting any fuel, if you getting fuel, than it could be the timing, you may have jump time. is you car stock and how many miles do you have on the car and what have you fix and replace. if everything is all good and above, it might be you computer.

SOURCE: My distributor is out 96 Honda Civic LX. How hard

Why do you think the Distributor is out? It's not hard to replace if you have the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle and understand how to get to TDC and line up everything. But it is very rare that a Distributor goes out. If it is not turning it is more likely that your timing Belt has broken than the distributor going bad.

SOURCE: How to repace distributor on 1988 honda civic. se

Remove the distributor cap and mark the distributor housing where the rotor is pointed to, and the distributor to where it goes into the head. Unplug the distributor, and remove the ditributor hold down bolts. Install the distributor with the rotor and distributor pointing to the marks made before removal.

Honda civic 1988 wont start stopped just after starting has power to all non-ignition circuits - horn / headlights / brakes / etc but no dash lights / no solenoid ignition click starter and solenoid 10 amp...

I'd check the distributor for spark, those year Honda's had alot of problems with the distributors. Also, I would check the multi-relay, under the dash, on the driver side, on the far left of the dash.

Removing honda civic distributor cap & assembly.

The distributor is driven directly by the camshaft. The end of the camshaft contains a set of grooves that engage the distributor shaft. These grooves prevent the distributor from being incorrectly installed.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Using masking tape, remove the spark plug wires from the cap and number them for installation as they are removed.
From 1988-onwards, all Honda Civic series models were fuel injected.
  1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses, the primary wire and the high tension wire. If equipped with fuel injection, remove the four prong connector from the crank angle sensor.
  2. Remove the hold-down bolt(s) and pull the distributor from the head.

You need a cap and rotor. Rotor is probaly grounding thru distributor shaft from a carbon track.
