Its likely getting to hot I would remove the E.G.R valve off and look for carbon clogs in the passages sometimes there is a screen you can get chunks of carbon it depends on how well the engine has been running in the past .

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!

Are you sure the spark is sufficient? I have seen weak coils cause your problem also bad coil wires loosing to much voltage to the distributor.

SOURCE: 94 Chevy 1500 truck, seems to be getting fuel,

These sometimes have problems with the magnet on the distributor shaft loosing magnetism. This causes the pickup coil not to be able to produce a strong enough signal for the ignition module and the engine dies because of no spark.

Our 2000 contour starts missing and dies. It will

Try running injector cleaner like Lucas injector cleaner through the fuel system and also check the fuel pressure regulator. If the fuel pressure regulator is bad or the vacuum hose has a leak, that's where the problem may be. The other to is to try and clean out your EGR valve. A dirty or stuck EGR valve will give you the problems your described, Remove the EGR valve and clean it out with carb cleaner and make sure that the valve is not seized and can move. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to get your car running 100% again.
