I have a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville that I can't get the windshield wipers to work on. We have changed out the windshield wiper motor, the control switch, and check the fuse.

Just replacing parts isn't the way to find the problem , viewing wiring diagrams an testing the electrical circuit with a DVOM - digital volt ohmmeter is . There are no relays involved . Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop before you buy more parts that are not needed .

2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT, problem is the Windshield Wiper operation is malfunctioning, in the Delay mode, and in the off position, Windshield Wiper arms/blades stop at the half point on the Windshield glas

The park position is controlled inside the motor/actuator assembly. Not sure if it can be repaired. See if it is assembled with screws versus rivets. A new assembly is less than $100.

The mechanism on the wipers to make them move came off, how do we get to them to repair.

Hello, there is a clip that holds the rods onto the motor. You can get it at the Dealer or a Salvage yard. The rods themselves are called a "wiper transmission" and it connects the motor to the stubs under the windshield.

Most of the time the wiper motor is removed and it gives you enough room to slip the connectors together. The clip can be installed on the motor by moving the blades to give slack at the motor.
If you need to change the wiper transmission, you need to remove the fasteners on the wiper stubs topside and pull the assembly through. Many times the top cowling has to come off.

That is the part which is vented and directly below the windshield. There should be screws under the hood and sometimes recessed in the cowling. Then connect the motor and reinstall everything.

My windshield wipers will not work but i hear the motor trying to work. what does this mean? are they totally broke or is there a simple fix?

Sounds like the link rod has popped off or the wiper arm nuts need tightened. When the wipers freeze to the windshield and you start the wipers to clear the snow this will either strip out the wiper arms or pop the linkage rod off. Always pull the wipers away from the windshield before you start the wiper motor in cold weather to be sure they are not frozen to the windshield. Ok how to repair. Grab the wiper arms and see if they freely move in thier normal pattern with power off. Do they move independantly of each other ? If your lucky the nut holding the arms to the pivot just needs tightened. At the base of each arm is a black cover you have to pry up th see the nut. If not remove the wiper arms and inspect to see if they are stripped out. If they are stripped out bad enough you may have to replace them. If not then the linkage has popped off beneath the drainage grill. To see the link rods move look down thru the grill with the wiper motor running and the wiper arms off and you may see the rod flopping around. Now pry the plastic grills off, with the power off, left side first to get to the rod. Look to see if the plastic retainer in the end that fell off is still ok if so just line it up and give it a smack to pop it back on to the ball stud. If the shaft that is installed onto the motor is spinning but not moving the rod the motor must be replaced. Oopen hood and remove three bolts holding the motor to the firewall to remove it. Just reverse the process to reinstall. Thanks for asking at Fixya.com.

The windshield wipers on my 1999 diamante won't work. But when i turn on the windshield switch i can here the windshield motor, running!

their is three main components to your windshield wipers. their is the wiper arms, linkage and motor. Check the linkage at the motor. you can find this ether under the hood or by removing a cover that is between your windshield and hood. The linkage has bolts or allen screws that hold them on the motor and the wiper arms they may be loose. it could also be bushings that are in between the two linkage rods it could be warn out and caused the linkage to seperate. Hope this helps

  3. Remove the four mounting bolts securing the motor to the firewall.
  4. Using a suitable prybar, carefully separate the wiper motor from the wiper linkage and remove the motor.

Windshield wipers are broken.

Wiper motor rarely goes bad, and a second one going bad as well is extremely rare. What will burn out a motor is very high resistance to movement from the wiper assembly. Do the following: Take out the wiper motor, and move the wipers by hand to see if they are hard to move, or if the arms (rod mechanism) are rubbing against anything. Do this with the blades in normal position, resting against the windshield. Pour water unto windshield while testing it, to avoid scratches. One telltale sign for this condition, is the wipers going too slow before complete stoppage. Either that, or an electrical connection leading to the wiper motor, for that simply check that there is electricity in the wiper motor connector when wipers are activated.
