Sounds like the interlock is out of adjustment. There is a switch on the brake pedal lever which sends a signal to release the shifter by reading the brake light signal. Often this switch gets hit by the Drivers feet and has either moved or broken. Your shifter will act up if the Ignition switch rod has slipped out of adjustment or if the ignition switch has slipped on its mount on the steering column.
do you have a valet switchin the glove box. open the glove box and see if there is a switch on the left side for the trunk valet then get back with me.
i know you have turned the wheel and tried, but i used to work valet and what i always did was to quickly **** the wheel back then forth while 'jiggling' the key to turn. Something in there gets in a jam and this was usually the only to do it.
