SOURCE: steering frozen, front passenger wheel fell off, repair cost?

no he only did what was necessary to try to get the vehicle to where you needed it to go, if the steering was already locked thats probably why it was locked. but no the tow truck driver did only as requested and did not cause the damage

SOURCE: Can my 2005 Buick Rendezvous be towed by a motor home

If it has an automatic transmission it isnt the best thing to do.The transmission pump wont suply lube to parts that need it and stand a real good chace of causeing damage due to the lack of lubrication.

SOURCE: towing and alligment problem, relation

Most likely the tow company hooked up the chains wrong when towing your car. Was this a flatbed tow truck or the two wheel dolly that only lifts up the front of your car? If the tow truck was a flatbed then when the car was pulled onto it the chains were probably hooked up wrong and a lower control arm got bent which would create your car to pull when driving. If it was a dolly type and the e-brake was left on then one of your tires has a flat spot and could be creating a radial pull. Take the vehicle to a repair shop that does free alignment checks and ask them to inspect the suspension for damage/ bent parts that could have been created by a tow chain.

SOURCE: My BMW 325i's steering wheel is locked and the car wont start.

Your steering column most likely is defective and you should be able to get this fixed under warranty. BMW discontinued this part in 2007. Its might go off if you put the key in the ignition and wait 5-10 minutes, but only maybe.

I have a 2003 pontaic grand am, i was driving then

If the motor hasn't blown, the catalytic converter might have broke apart and the guts might have jammed into the exhaust. Unless the wheel your talking about is the steering wheel, then it could be anything that caused your car to stall and for you to lose power steering.

The key stays in lock mode, it won't turn over, 1990 i had a key made still same problem. the steering wheel is in locked up. so i can't tow it, what should i do?

that happens when the ignition tumbler breaks, when it breaks it most the time just ends up letting you start it without a key, but also can make it not move at all. you can try to give it a couple sharp taps on the steering colum while wiggleing the steering wheel an having someone try to turn the key while you do this, thats what i did on my 1990 chevy pickup an it free'd it up an i was able to atleast start my vehicle

Car got stole and I got it but may turn siginals will not work. they broke where the key gones in at.

Hi

You need to buy a new steering colum, they have snapped the steering lock and this damages the mechanism behind the steering wheel that affects the turn signals. Also you have to change it anyhow really as if you where to try and repair it, it could just lock up at any time while you where driving, this would make you crash as you wouldnt be able to steer.

Hope this helps.

Dan

I slid off my driveway in a snow storm & got stuck. My problem is the steering column is locked & can't turn the ignition to start it or unlock it to get towed out. What could the problem be?

ther should be a steering wheel lock in the colum that engages when the vehicle is shut off . if you slid into the ditch and your wheels are turned or ther is a lot of presure on the wheels or colum then the lock wont disengage( the lock is jambed up because of the presure on it) try to remove the presure on the wheels and pull opposite on the steering wheel. if you get rid of enough presure on the lock it should turn again

2001 Lincoln town car sometimes will not start. Found by tilting the steering wheel up it starts most of the time. This problem only happens periodically, never when it is at the dealer to look at it.

Sounds like you have wires starting to come loose in the steering column. They may be breaking apart or it could be your ignition switch, both are in the column.

Just wondering if i can tow a ford f-150 with 4 wheel drive and with the front tire off the ground or also known as a car dolly or will it damage my truck????? also wondering about my power steering pump...

1. If you disconnect the transmission , no.
2. Either your steering shaft - relatively cheap and easy to replace - or the steering box - expensive and hard to replace - are at fault. How was your luck lately?

Tilt Steering Wheel has up and down movement no matter what position it is in. I bought this truck new and I know this isn't normal. This just started about a month ago. Is this something that should be...

there are some bolts in the column that work loose in the chevrolet columns. they are a pain to get to most of the time is easier to replace the entire column with one from the salvage yard that still feels tight.
