Do you live in a cold climate? maybe the button is stuck or maybe the button is bad, also check the wiring where it goes from the vehicle to the trunk lid should be a rubber tube with wires in it. My turn signal does not work when it's very cold works fine when the temperature is above 20 Fahrenheit.
May need to replace the switch.

You have to open it from the inside and take off the entire back panel on door from there you will find your way if not write back.

Remove the interior trim panel which will not be easy since the gate is up ---- you can then access the lock mechanism and will probably find a bent linkage rod or a broken plastic retainer clip.

Remove the paneling from inside. Than you can use a flathead screwdriver to pry the latch rod and latch enough to pop open the door.

I have a similar problem, my tailgate stopped working with the outside handle and the remote but can be opened manually from the inside. I don't have an alarm so there is no problem with that but did you get a solution for the tailgate problem that I could try?
