Need to know how to set timing belt - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

No easy way that I know of.
You would need to remove the timing belt cover to see the belt and the marks on the gears. You could do a compression test to check the valves but that would not really tell you if the belt is the problem.

You cant set the timeing on it , It is preadjusted buy the timeing belt, If it is off there is a problem with the timeing belt,

I dont know how to try to set the belt? it may help to tell what engine you have and what excactly is that you are doing an dwhat is going wrong. Th ebelt is either set or its not, it cant go off unless something is broken. Sometimes these bend valves when a belt breaks. Why did you take it apart, did the belt break? to get good help you need to tell EVERYTHING.

For your 2000 Toyota Tundra: I do not know if you have the 3.4L DOHC V6 or the 4.7L DOHC V8.

You need to find the timing marks on both crank and cam pulleys, set it, then take of the belt ane dont let any pulley move! Put on new belt and set the tension of the belt.

bottom gear go straight up top gear sets about 2oclock thers a small hole in the gear too line up with a hole in the head use a small drill bit too check this!!!!
