SOURCE: trunk release not working 1983 911 sc

if you can lower the back seat, you should be able to get your hand in far enough to get at the latch. you'll need a flashlight. some cars have a pull cable in the trunk also which would be even easier. good luck

SOURCE: audi a4 bonnet release mechanism broken

This can be over come by getting a pair of vise grips and gripping the cable that is sticking out and pulling it out, once you have opened it Do not attempt to close the hood without replacing the cable. You have maybe only one chance at this so if you don't succeed you will make it harder for a mechanic to fix it. a new cable is not to difficult to replace, buy the cable and housing replace both.

SOURCE: audi a4 problem

You could also short-circuit (reset the computer of the car).. Just leave the red wire connected on the battery, disconnect the other cable (black one) that goes on the battery (-) and connect the black cable with the read cable.. That should reset the car computer and let you start the engine.. You have a sensor or something broken in your car.. My advice is have your car checked by specialists (best solution). Good Luck.

Anybody know how to get into the bonnet if the release catch cable has snapped at the bonnet end? Audi A3, 1.8Tfsi 2007 (57 reg).

Can you see the end of the cable through the front grille? On some vehicles you can use a extra long flat screwdriver to push the release through the front grille.
Some S3 and A3 models have a small access hole between the bonnet and grille. A thin wire hook and a lot of poking around can release the bonnet.
if this doesn't work you might have to destroy the front grille to get access.

How to open zetec bonnet with a broken pull lever

From the bottom. Few times have I seen it broke at the latch. Reach up and cut the cable in half( as far as you can away from the latch). Then cut a couple inches of the cable sheathing of at the latch side. expose the cable, then pull the cable to open. If it did break at the latch, then you'll need a long pick(right angle or hook). You'll have to reach up in the latch to grab the arm to release the bonnet.

How do i open the bonnet of a Audi A4 1,8 1996?

Because of the problem of theft, this job is very, very close to impossible.
However, it can be done.
You will need some bright lights, some sharp tools, some wrenches, etc. etc.
Start by examining the location of the hood latch.
Can you even see it at all?
It would be a really good idea to go to a salvage yard or a junk yard and find a car you could learn from.
Can you see a way to use a screwdriver or something to release the latch?
If not, examine the route of the cable going to the driver's leg area. Where can you see the cable route, so you could intercept it?
Usually, the cable is not routed inside a metal frame rail, usually it is inside the inner plastic fender of the driver's side.
If I had to, I might consider cutting the plastic inner fender to gain access to the cable, so I could remove the outside black plastic cover, and pull on the inside steel cable all the while holding the outside black plastic cover in place.
I would be sure to then repair where I had cut the inner fender so water would not splash onto the engine components.
God bless your efforts.

How can I get someone to fix a hood latch that won't open?

I have seen instances like this and it was the cable that leads from the hood release latch to the lever that operates the bonnet that is worn out. If it's 2001 or older crv, try pushing the latch forward while having someone moving the bonnet in an open and close motion. If it's a 2002 or later model....makes sure the release latch it in the pull position the have someone try to yank open the bonnet....it's better to repair a bent hook/lever than to cut the entire bonnet off.

Best of luck,
Romone.

How to open bonnet on 2003 toyota corrolla when cable release is broken

this is a lot easier said than done. the easiest way that i know and have done is gain access to the cable closest to the handle, this seems to be the most common place a cable breaks, the next would be at the latch itself. very rarely do the break in the middle. any way, gain access to the cable and cut it. once you have cut it peel off the plastic protective coating. after this is done it you should see the outer steel shell that houses the cable. most of these outer shells are not solid but more of a tight coil configuration. with a good pair of pliers you can "unravel" the outer shell to gain access to the inner cable. hold the outer cable with pliers and using another pair of pliers pull the inner cable and the hood latch should release. this is the easiest way to do it with out chewing your hands up

Hi, just tried to open the bonnet of my audi a6 '96 plate and only one of the two locks seem to open as only one side pops up meaning the lever does not come out of the grill to allow the bonnet to pop up....

You will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and repair or replace the safety release mechanism. This is very simple to remove out from the hood.

Bonnet cable broken, how to open bonnet

The cable can break either at the left or right hand latch - if you are lucky as I was, the cable operating the left hand catch was the broken one, and was broken near the right hand latch release mechanism.
I was able to open the right hand latch with the bonnet release from inside thecar.
You then have to get a piece of fairly strong wire(I used a 2.8mm welding rod) and bend a fairly tight hook in one end. Using a torch so you can see the bonnet release cable, feed the wire in through the grill and hook the swage on the end of the cable that operated the left hand latch. A frim pull on the wire should then release the left hand latch.
Good luck!

When i pull bonet release, feelsvery lose and will not open bonnet, how do I adjust,??

i believe the cable snapped. check to determine if the cable is attatched to the handle. if the cable has snapped there , use pliers to pull the cable. if its broken further up the line, you'll have to get under the front and try to release the latch. you may also be able to access the latch from the grill

Trying to open audi a4 bonnet, removed from grill and srews but can't get the third one which is right back, lever moves up and down no problem but looks to be catching

I took a long thin screwdriver and slid it under the bonnet and pressed it against the latch release and give the screwdriver a good whack and that freed the latch so the bonnet could open.. then I lubed the latch like crazy and it's been working ever since

Bonnet cable snapped, need advice on how to open bonnet

Most of the time the cable snaps at the release handle. If you remove the handle and get the end of the cable, you can cut off the cable jacket and use needle nose pliers or vise grips to grab the cable and pull to release bonnet.
