starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

SOURCE: have to change clutch plate on suzuki grand vitara

If it's hard to get into gear you should check the clutch is disengaging properly.
Before changing the clutch plate, check that the clutch throw-out is adjusted correctly and the actuating hydraulics/levers have the correct amount of travel.

SOURCE: problems with clutch master cylinder on a suzuki

I too am having problems with my 2006 GV clutch master cylinder. I noticed gradually over several weeks the gears and clutch pedal were degenerating and then the cluth gave completely. My mechanic took a look around and said the cylinder is the cheapest one he has ever seen, it's just a piece of plastic apparently! Is going to hopefully get the part this week or next, though he said as it's such a cheap and nasty part its likely it will happen again in the future. Not happy!

How to adjust the hydraulic clutch on a 2005 Suzuki grand vitara 4x4

Hi Lain,

The Hydraulic clutch on your Grand Vitara is non adjustable.
The hydraulic cylinder will self adjust/position itself as the clutch wears.
If your clutch pedal friction point is high or clutch is slipping you will require a new clutch kit and flywheel machine.

Cheers.

Can you adjust a clutch on suzuki vitara 2.7

I think you will find the actuating system is hydraulic, hence not adjustable. There may however be some small adjustment on the rod which connects the clutch pedal to the clutch master cylinder to take the slop out of it. You would feel that kind of slop when you push the pedal down. Clutch is good for about 10 years of normal driving, so you are at 12 and it is time for a new clutch.

The clutch pedal on Suzuki vitara two litre V6 1998 goes to about inch of floor before activation. Clutch does not slip just too much pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust it? ...

prev.gif next.gif Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced. The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment. CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation. The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm). Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion 7924hg30.gif
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
  3. Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.
