SOURCE: display console

There is a switch in the lift gate latch that closes when the gate is closed and turns off the light, this switch is defective, replace it and the light will go off.

SOURCE: installing after market stereo

Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: How can I reset my Factory Alarm on my Jeep it wont run

Alarm Module Reset Procedure
NOTE: This information applies to a Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) that was armed when the battery was disconnected and reconnected.
When the armed VTSS senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed following a battery reconnection.
The power-up mode will also apply if the battery goes dead while the system is armed and battery jump-starting is attempted. The engine no-run feature will prevent the engine from starting until the alarm system has been actively or passively disarmed.
Passive disarming of the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) occurs when the vehicle is unlocked using the key to unlock either front door or the lift gate. Active disarming of the VTSS occurs when the vehicle is unlocked by depressing the Unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
Once the alarm has been activated (horn sounding, lights flashing, and the engine no-run feature), either disarming method will deactivate the alarm.
Depressing the Panic button (if equipped) on the RKE transmitter will also disarm the VTSS, but the horn will sound and the lights will flash for about three minutes as part of the Panic feature. The horn and lights can be stopped by pressing any of the RKE transmitter's buttons or driving the vehicle above 15 mph.

What will cause a burning smell coming from under the dash of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question moved from Computers to Jeep Grand Cherokee

There is so much under there, it is impossible to tell. The most likely is a connector getting warm, but it could be so many things, even the radio, or the resistor on the heater blower.

1993 jeep grand Cherokee Larado stalling for no reason. we have looked or changed coil, fuel pump, relays, cam sensor inside distributor, this thing still stalls out, but starts right back up.

Crank sensor. Its on the passenger side on the top of tranny. Will have either 1 or 2 10mm bolts holding it on. And a plug. My 94 had the same problem. It would run fine then you shut it off and all it woild do is crank. Wait like an hour and it will start back up. New crank sensor and it was fine

Power windows don't work on all 4 doors and power lock doesn't work on the driver door. 2004 jeep grand cherokee

On the driver side, the window/door lock module has the power lead either pulling away from the connection or has broke entirely. Another common cause is the wire harness between the door jam, this is the area that has a rubber boot covering the wires and from opening and closing the door, it creates a broken or loose connection over time. Open the driver side door, grab the rubber boot that the wires run thru, and move it around. Some times this will help create the connection and restore the power. If not, the door panel will need to be removed to inspect the wire connections.

I am not getting power to my trailer lights on my 1998 jeep grand Cherokee

I would unplug the wire harness and check the contacts. Even if the contacts look good , Scrape them shiny then spray with electrical parts cleaner then grease lightly with dielectric grease. Also check where your ground wire goes - or maybe you'll want to run a test ground wire from the harness to the trailer to ensure a proper ground. 95% of the time the ground is the issue in trailer lights. Good luck!!!

95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 Check engine came on last week, began running rough. Found number six fuel injector wire was partially cut thru because of heater hose rubbing on it. Repaired no. six injector...

You need to begin tracing harness wire that has no power, back to the computer. If you can locate the wire at the computer, first check it there. If no signal from the computer at the pin, then change computer.

Installing an aftermarket CD player.

Go to a stereo sales & installation shop, or even auto parts places usually have them now too, and get an adapter harness for your particular vehicle. They plug directly in to your existing harness, then you simply wire your new stereo to it,via directions. Few bucks now, will save hours of aggravation later,.and if you decide to sell vehicle later, and put old one back in, it's all there to plug back in, nice & clean.

How to remove factory radio

Removing the radio bezel is easy, which is the plastic surrounding the radio including the heater vents. Slide something thin, or your fingers underneath from the bottom of the bezel and gently pull towards you, carefull not to break any tabs. Once you have one tab out keep working all around the bezel until its off. You will then see the radio and how its mounted. There are 4 screws holding the radio in. Remove and put in the cup holder so you dont lose them. Pull the radio out towards you until you can reach behind and unclip it from the harness. You must also remove the antenna wire from the back of the radio. (before you begin its a good idea to unhook the battery)

To install an Ipod they sell the Ipac-chy, which is a can-bus unit. The unit clips into the radio harness then the other side clips into the car harness. They are around $80. It comes with a patch cable that charges the ipod as well. Look around online for the best price. Metra I believe has one too.
