Hi. The two primary functions that need to be present is fuel and spark. Please verify that they are there. There are different ways to determine the failure but I need more information first. Was the engine light on before the "No Start" issue? Did you retrieve any engine codes and if so, what were they? A no start problem can me mechanical or electrical. This could be related to the car's anti theft feature, blown fuse, wiring, out of gas, fuel pump, CPS, TPS, ECU or any number of failures. Please write back with more information or questions. Good Luck.

I HAVE A 2005 KIA SORENTO V-6. MY PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I WOULD DRIVE ON TO THE HWY IT WOULD PUTTER LIKE IF I WAS LOSING POWER. THE HOLE TIME THIS WAS GOING ON MY GAS GAGE WOULD NOT WORK. SO I WENT OUT TO AUTO ZONE HERE IN MADERA CA AND BOUGHT A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER AND THE CODE NUMBER P0338 WHICH MEANS CRANK SHAFT CENSER IS GONE. SO WHEN YOUR GAS GAGE STOP WORKING GET YOUR CAR TESTED OR THE BEST WAY TO GO IS TO INVEST IN A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER. IT WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF MONEY

If it's an overhead cam, which I think it is, then it should be toward the very front of the engine, likely within the timing case. There should be some wires coming from it. It's usually a small black sensor.

I would recommend that you make sure that you are getting fuel to the engine and that the plugs are firing. Check the fuse panel for the ignition fuse, remove the fuse, visually inspect/replace if necessary. If those options are to no avail, I recommend that you replace the crankshaft sensor.
I hope that you have found this information to be useful, and if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Thank you for using fixya!
