I know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for life time. www.reliable-store.com
SOURCE: the rod right hand side of tailgate is not attached
You should be able to feel around and locate that rod. After you get it you can use some pliers or vice grips to put on the rod to release the lock on that side and the handle on the other side.
As long as the locks and the rods move freely and are in good shape then all you will need is a new handle asm. It will come with new clips and on the other side of the tail-gate are 3 torque-head screws that will need to be removed to replace that handle.
SOURCE: I have a 2" torsion lift on a 2001 F150 and the cv boots keep tearing.
Try some of the 4x4 sites and things like F150Owners.com and 4x4Blog.com sites. It sounds like your boots are stretched.
Also helpful are the Stainless steel mesh boot covers to guard against tears caused by terrain. Your current boots should have accordian style folds in them and the internal joints of the cv could be rubbing them because of the new angle created by the lift.
I hope my info was helpful and please rate.
SOURCE: trunk torsion rod instalation 2004 chevy cavalier
This is rather hard to describe in words with out a picture. But here goes...
With the trunk lid propt safely open and the hinges in place, place one torsion bar in position so the end with the "U" end is by the hinge. The hinge has a link on it with a hook. The hook connects to the "U". Once connected, do the other hinge/bar. Last step is to place tension on the bars by postitioning the "L" end in one of the slots. You may need to do a trial-by-error in the different slots to acheive correct tension to keep the lid in the open position
