Egr cooler repalced to get us passed warranty - oil cooler was not replaced prior to 160k warranty exipred- on vacation 2000kms away (only 11000kms after egr cooler fixed) from home towing a trailer overheated was told head gaskets done and heads pitted. would this be caused by the egr cooler not being the proper fix in the 1st place? when replacing head gaskets - egr cooler replaced again and this time also oil cooler

Thanks rocitman187......this confirms everything I have read on this issue. Does anyone know how I find out the exact date when the TSB 08-11-3 was changed to 09-8-3?

A few week after having the egr cooler installed (under warranty) we called again to advise same issues. Ford dealer said sorry past warranty of 160k. Have since found out the egr cooler should have still been covered at that point and should have at least been looked at to see if it had failed. I have called dealer who originally installed egr cooler to advise the egr cooler had to be replaced on vaca in Halifax only 11000kms from the one they put in they said - oh but we replaced egr cooler under warranty so you don't get the 12mth/12000k warranty on that part you only get 3 mths/5000k warranty. what kind of bs is this! it shouldn't matter how the part was paid for and by who (them or us) it should have the same warranty!

Thanks for this - it confirms what I have been reading online. Do you know what driving with pitted heads will do to the truck? Also do you know when the TSB 08-11-3 was updated by Ford to 09-8-3?

If the dealer put an egr cooler on and didnt replace oil cooler, it can blow out egr cooler again , restriced oil cooler causes egr cooler to blow out , which in turn can cause overheat and blown headgasket also, if you are seeing white smoke now it is possible for the egr to be blown out again as wel as the oil ooler and/or headgasket

The oil pressure is low at idle and rises with higher engine revs. Oil levels are ok, new oil approx 2000kms ago. Was a slight noise at one stage in the engine but went away after engine's revs in

It sounds as if the clearance that the bearings normally run in have been surpassed and need to be replaced. Higher engine revs will supply extra oil which will overcome any small discrepencies but constant running at this stage will result in faster degradation of all engine components concerned resulting in a more expensive repair. Shes basically worn out.

Change erg valve and oil senser and location of each

before we repalce these can I ask why.

Generally a low flow egr code is not the valve. Its either the DPFE sensor or the passage in the intake for the egr valve is clogged.

If the car struggles at idle and the oil light comes on then the light works and the sensor works.

A stuck open EGR valve could cause a struggling idle so in this case the EGR valve would need to be replaced but not the oil sender.

When did Ford Make it manditory to change out Oil Cooler when replacing EGR Cooler on F-250 or warranty would be void on that EGR Cooler?

They do this because if the oil cooler is partialy blocked up then the coolant flow into the EGR cooler will be restricted and will cause the new cooler to fail. The leading cause of EGR cooler failure is from overheating. either from lack of coolant flow or a bad EGR valve letting to much exhaust flow through the cooler.

Could you tell me where to locate the oil cooler in my motor and the egr cooler is as well?

the oil cooler will typically be mounted along with the radiator and condenser core at the front of the vehicle. the EGR cooler will likely be attached to the EGR valve.

Egr cooler

They should have replaced it right then. They know that it should be replaced if the EGR valve itself goes bad. They are trained in this and know what they are supposed to do. Tell them if they do not repair it right like they should hae 3 months ago you will go to the BBB and so on to get things right..
