If you are cleaning an air flow meter use a approved MAF cleaner which is available at auto parts stores.

my 99 is similar, after sitting for 36hrs or more (getting home Sat. afternoon till Mon. Morning), When I go to start it, it cranks like it is flooded. if you plug off almost all air to intake, making some suction on your hand while cranking, it fires up and runs like normal. after replacing the intake tube (filter to intake) accelerates and drives fine. The next day (Tuesday thru Saturday Morn), starts right up. I park it Sat. afternoon, come Monday Morn, same prob. Thre Sundays ago, I Started it (no Prob) rev'd it a couple times, running for half a minute and shut it down. Monday, I had to Plug the intake again. two weeks ago, I went a block away from my Apt on Sunday for Breakfast, ran it a couple minutes before shutting down, Drove it back home a couple hrs latter. Monday, had to Plug it. Last weekend, I went to same restaurant, then drove around like a teenager for a couple minutes in low gear. This morning, Started right up. Any suggestions other than take up going to church on Sundays?
