SOURCE: Chevy Impala Door lock issue

Which is it, 98 Eclipse, or 06 Impala? Either way, your door lock actuator is stuck in the locked position either electrically or mechaically. The way to check this is to remove the door panel and unplug the actuator. If door lock can now be moved then you have an electrical problem (faulty door lock switch or faulty door lock module). If you still cannot unlock door then actuator is mechanically bad and must be replace (usually the case)

SOURCE: 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport. Power door lock won't

Lock and unlock both run off the same power supply...I'd be looking for a bad switch or a broken wire in the door harness where the wires go through the rubber boot between the door and pillar.

SOURCE: My 2005 Honda Odyssey driver's side manual

More than likely the connecting rod that goes from the door lock actuator to the locking mechanism itself came unattached. These rods are usually held in place by a small piece of plastic that the rods "pop" in and out. The only other thing i can imagine possible is that the door lock itself is actually seized up. In order to attempt to fix this, you would have to remove the door side panel to see the inner workings of the door, and this is quite difficult on most side sliding doors (i have a 2000 pontiac montana w/dual sliding doors). Hope this can help you solve your problem.

2004 chevy malibu driver and passenger door lock problems

The locks on your vehicle are electronically controlled by the BCM - body control module . The driver an passenger door switche's are input's to the BCM . Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ? anti theft alarm remote, could this be part of the problem , No it's just a key less entry remote , nothing to do with the anti-theft .
Door Lock System Components
The Power Door Lock System consists of the following components:
• Body control module (BCM)
• Driver door lock switch
• Front passenger door lock switch
• Door lock actuators in each of the doors
• IBCM (PWR) 15-amp fuse

Door Lock System Controls
The Power Door Lock System is controlled by the body control module (BCM) and can be activated by any one of the following:
• A door lock switch Lock or Unlock actuation
• A keyless entry transmitter actuation
• An automatic door lock actuation
• An automatic door unlock actuation
• A last door closed locking (LDCL) actuation

Driver and Passenger Door Unlock Operation w/o Keyless Entry
When the body control module (BCM) detects a transition of either of the door lock switches to the Unlock position, it switches the door lock actuator unlock control circuits to voltage. Since the door lock actuator lock control circuit is at ground potential within the BCM, the driver passenger door lock actuators transition to the Unlock position.

Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop ! Need special tool to diagnose .

I have a 08 chevy avalanche the driver side front and rear door locks won't work when I use my keyless entry button or on the inside driver panel. Could it be a fuse? Passenger side works fine I try...

Do the power windows work ? DDM - driver door module fuse 15 amp - location is the instrument panel fuse box , plus LT DR circuit breaker 25 amp. Circuit breakers rarely go bad . The power locks are controlled by electronic's .The passenger side has another power supply ,that's why they still work .
Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
• The driver door switch (DDS)
• The passenger door switch (PDS)
• The body control module (BCM)
• The driver information center (DIC)
• The rear door lock/unlock relay (LBEC)
• The reversible door lock actuators in each of the doors and liftgate

The front power door lock switches are integral components of the driver door module (DDS) and passenger door module (PDS). The switches are 2 position normally open rocker switches. When placed in either the lock or unlock positions, the switches provide a direct input to the DDS or PDS. The DDS or PDS monitors these inputs and sends a LAN message indicating a change in the switch's respective position. Modules which activate the power door lock motors receive the LAN message and activate the motor in the appropriate direction to lock or unlock the vehicle's doors and liftgate. The rear door lock switch provides a lock and unlock signal to the body control module (BCM). The BCM upon receipt of a lock or unlock signal will control the rear door lock/unlock relay and also send a LAN message to the DDS and PDS to perform the appropriate function.
The modules which activate the power lock motors are:
• The DDS (driver door lock actuator)
• The PDS (passenger front door lock actuator)
• The BCM (both rear door lock actuators and cargo door/liftgate)
The DDS and PDS are directly connected to the respective door lock actuator through the door lock motor lock and unlock circuits. Once a door lock or unlock request has been received, the module will supply battery voltage to one side of the actuator and ground the other causing the doors to lock or unlock.
The rear passenger and endgate doors are controlled by the BCM through the rear door lock/unlock relay which is incorporated onto the printed circuit board in the LH BEC. The BCM controls the unlock relay by providing ground to energize the coil and controls the lock relay by providing battery voltage to energize the relay coil. The energized the relay and allows voltage to be applied to either the door lock motor lock or unlock circuits. Since the other side of the door lock actuator is connected to the normally closed contacts of the opposing relay to ground, the doors lock or unlock.

It's possible you have broken wire or wires inside the flex boot from the body of the vehicle to the driver's door . This happens a lot .

92 Honda Accord EX Wagon doors not locking

If it was the actuator in the drivers door the other doors would still lock. this sounds like a bad connection, test the drivers door switch, the other thing is do the doors lock if you use the pass/door switch to lock the doors? if it doesnt then its not the switch but if it does lock the doors then replace driver door lock switch. if the switch on pass door doesnt work to lock then check wiring. look at wiring going into driver door, look at the door, open it, look at door hinge area and in the middle you will see the rubber boot that holds the wiring for that door. remove the boot or rather slide it back and check for any broken wires. its common for wires to break from opening and closing the door. good day.

Power door lock problem. Driver's door only unlocks with switch or FOB. Passenger door the unlock switch does nothing for all locks. I took the door lock assembly out of the driver's side and hooked it to...

the wires between the door and the pillar may have cracked and create the short. its from swinging the door open and closed position in time. Some will do this mainly on the right side for the harness is so tighter from being shorter that the left side is. I had seen this happen in many Chrysler vehicles

Driver side door doesn't lock or unlock with the remote. The rest of the doors work fine.

Does the Driver side door lock and unlock from the lock switch inside? If not then you have a bad motor or bad connection to the lock/unlock motor inside the door.

The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.

The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.

Door locks

That is your issue. I found that water had dripped into the power lock switch and shorted out the circuit board. This caused all of the problems that you described above. Replace your driver side door lock switch and you should be set.

Central locking keeps locking the car. Unable to open drivers side door

Hello, we have a 2003 Kia Rio- problem as above- unlocking and then locking- only way in and out through passenger door.
This is what I have done and everything is back to normal- I hope it works for you.
1 Remove 25AMP fuse that controls door central locking from main box under the bonnet.
(AT this stage my passenger door opens- drivers side does not, the mechanism won't fully rotate)
2, Spray key with WD40 (or similar moisture repellent lubricant). Gently turn key to loosen mechanism- Partly remove key and spray lubricant into lock, have fun locking and unlocking!
3, Replace 25 amp fuse
4, Write yourself a cheque for garage labour and parts and wife brownie points!
