Check passenger side of transmission - it is a 3/8 ext that will fit the bolt - does not really look like a regular fill hole -

What kind of gear oil is required for my 1992 jeep wrangler 5 speed transmission/transfer case and how many quarts will it require

Transmission generally takes a bit less than two quarts, Use 75/90 gear lube in that (in very cold climates you can add a small amount of automatic trans fluid to keep it flowing on cold starts) Transfer case takes a bit over one quart and takes dextron mercon 3. When filling either, fluid is full when on a level surface it begins to come out of the fill hole while filling. When changing either, always make sure you can open the fill plug before draining so you know you can replace what you removed.

Where is the fill hole 6 speed manual tranny in my 09 wrangler and what type of fluid does it take

That information should be in your owners manual. I know that the manuals for the Cherokees I have owned have that kind of info in them. I found the below on a Jeep forum but I can not vouch for this information:

"The following products are MS-9224 compliant:
• Chrysler synchomesh fluid #4874464
• Penzoil Synchromesh Fluid #18106
• Quakerstate Synchromesh Fluid #59634
• GM synchromesh fluid #12345349
• GM synchromesh fluid 12345577
• Havoline MTX fluid #1874

Manual Transmission
The level of lubricant in the transmission should be maintained at the filler hole on all manual transmissions. This hole is on the right side. When you check the level in the transmission, make sure that the vehicle is level so that you get a true reading. When you remove the filler plug, lubricant should run out of the hole. Replace the plug quickly for a minimum loss of lubricant. If lubricant does not run out of the hole when the plug is removed, lubricant should be added until it does. Replace the plug as soon as the lubricant reaches the level of the hole.

DRAIN AND REFILL
Remove the drain plug which is at the bottom of the transmission. Allow all the lubricant to run out before replacing the plug. Replace the case with the correct viscosity oil. All manual transmissions use SAE 75W-90 API quality Grade GL-5 gear lubricant. Tighten the fill hole plug to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

I hope help you with this (rermember rated this help) Good luck.

I can't find where to check or add transmission fluid in the manual transmission

the check/fill plug is located on the left side of the transmission possibly on the right depends on the transmission its about mid way up on the side of transmission to check remove plug and if the gear oil starts to run out just a little its fine if u want to replace the fluid drain the transmission and fill till the fluid just starts to come out of the fill/check plug sight. hope this helps with what u need to do.

I am changing the oil in the manual transmission of my 2002 jeep wrangler sport. i have drained it and am trying to put the fluid in. the manual calls for 3.5 qts. i can't get 2 in without it pouring out...

Let it sit for awhile because it takes cold oil a while to leak down to fill everything. Did you get 3.5 quarts of oil out when you drained? Just add as much as you can, wait awhile, check your dipstick, and add more until you can get it all in the fill hole. With a cold engine and cold oil, it takes a little while.

Request information on type and quantity of fluids / oils

Hi there.A auto parts store or a dealership service department can help you determine the type of fluid recommended for your vehicle. The fill area is also the full mark, when adding fluid to the transmission or transfercase the fluid will come out of the fill hole and thats when you will know it is full. Its hard to tell how much fluid is is needed, every vehicle is different, but I believe the transfercase is between 2-3 quarts and the standard tranny is between 4-5 quarts.Keep your receipt and whatever fluids you do not use you can return.Hope this helps.John.
