2003 saturn vue, all lights work except tail lights and dashboard lights. replaced fuse but it blows immediately. Further troubleshooting finds that the person that owned the car before me replaced the turn signal/headlight switch with the wrong one. There are 2 different ones, One with auto lights and one without. If you don't have auto lights don't get the one for auto lights

it sounds like it may be an electrical problem, you ae going to need to follow the wiring harnesses from the tail lites back to the fuse pannel as well as the dash lites if you don't find where it is shorting out. how ever the first place I would look is to see if you have a plug in for towing a trailer and if so I would start there. I would also check the pigtails where the lites plug in to see if they are all rite.
SOURCE: # 4 fuse blew out,
I KNOW YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT.WAS AN ALARM INSTALLED OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF ACCESSORY? CHECK WITH DODGE TO FIND OUT ABOUT A RECALL.IF SOMETHING WAS INSTALLED, TAKE IT BACK THERE TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT IF NOT HAVE A AUTO TECHNICIAN CHECK IT FOR YOU.

If this vehicle has a trailer harness, that could be the problem; it could be shorted out. Additionally, if there is no trailer harness, look under the truck bed at the rear, look for a grey wiring connector that wires come out of, and run to the taillamps. I have observed corrrosion in this connector, which will result in a short circuit. You may find it necessary to cut the connector out and resplice the wires back together (eliminate the connector), if severe corrosion is indeed present.
SOURCE: Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.
If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

there could be a short somewhere in the wires
