Immobiliser is disarmed when the antenna around or near the steering lock receives the code held in the transponder chip within the key and then if that code matches the code in the black box memory it will send a signal to disarm the immobiliser.

It cannot be bypassed or otherwise disengaged except by a key with the correct code.

My Nissan Altima 2005 I need to disconnect the anti theft system so I can start my car

Anti theft system is built into your car's Engine Control Module. It cannot be disabled according to everything I've read in the Nissan forums.

Changed the ECM now car won't start because of anti theft. How can I dissable 2005 Nissan Altima SE 3.5

When the anti theft system was created, the dealers forgot to tell the new car buyers about how much the fob matters to the vehicle, without it,owners are stuck, your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.if you lost your fob or never had it,whatever, you need to have the exact fob that came with that car from the factory, the key and fob have a chip in them that only go to that certain car,if you do not have it,then you need to buy a new one from the dealer or ebay and then you need to contact your dealer about programming the fob to your car,you might not have to have it towed if they have the documents from the car,the only other way is to get a junk car, with the steering column, key, fob and all computer boxes and door locks and switch them,i just did that with a 98 dodge dakota,i havent finished yet,im hoping it works.

99 altima turns over but does not start

Anti theft would kill ignition system. Your fuel pump is not running. If it has about 160k miles, replace the pump. If its 140k or less, check fusable links or computer grounds.

How to change out a ignition switch on a 2001 altima

Hi Ceh, Remove the cowling from around the steering column by removing the screws recessed on the underside. You will need to use a cold chisel to remove the blind anti theft bolts which fasten the saddle clamp from the steering column. Once loose remove the screws holding the switch at the end of the barrel and remove the induction coil from the front (Where the key fits). Fit the new unit and re-assemble which is opposite to the work you have already carried out. When tightening the blind bolts tighten until the ends shear and break off. The new component will need to be re-programmed for the vehicle to start. Regards John

My friend replaced the positive terminal cable on her 2005 nissan altima with a positive terminal cable from the factory and now the car won't start at all. There is power to all the fuses and the battery...

Hello.
It is very likely that the terminal is fine. Many vehicle owners are not aware that the newer factory installed anti-theft systems will lock down the car, ( prevent it from starting ), if the battery is disconnected for more than just a couple of minutes. In the future if you need to disconnect the battery, make sure that you dis-arm the anti-theft system first

You should be able to find out how to dis-arm/over-ride the anti-theft system in your owners manual.

I hope this helps you.

My car alarm is blinking but the remote doesn't work. I already replaced the battery to the remote so I know that's not the problem. If I open the car the alarm goes off and doesn't allow me to start the...

You need to first look under the drivers side dash area near the hood release/fuse panel area and see if there is a valet switch. The switch will look like a little toggle or a push switch. After you locate it, turn the ignition switch to the on position(dont start it) and flick the valet to the opposite position it is in now. If done correctly in most cases the red system light will stay a constant instead of off or blinking indicating you are in valet mode. Next try to start the engine. If this doesnt work you need to remove the alarm system and repair the ignition switch wiring or replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The aftermarket alarm cuts into the ignition switch wires and bypasses the start circuit through the alarm module. When disarmed the alarm completes the circuit and allows the car to start. Good luck hope this helps and please rate this.
