You might want to check for voltage at the pump. The circuit has a fuse and a relay, and some have a reset button as well. A cheap shop manual might help you, and usually can be purchased at any parts store.

good old ford lol, try looking at the crank sensor its located at the front of the engine tucked in right hand side of exhaust manifold and gearbox, two pin plug, i have also known these to have no end of faults with the fusebox.
easy to remove, and solder the connections inside they all suffer eventually, if your not to handy with cars i recommend taking to a auto electrician, easy if you know how. Good luck Davelee

usually you can hear the buzz/whine of the fuel pump when you turn the key just before start. dont turn the engine over. if it is the fuel pump it usually wont run. keep me posted.

tap on tank while someone is turning engine if it starts its the fuel pump if it doesnt check spark them find fuel psi relief and check for gas

another thing to check is the wiring in the spare wheel area, on the left is all the wiring any corrosion will stop the car from even making that whir sound when you turn the ignition but not start it. If any wiring in that area is corroded, wet or any rust marks on the wiring it needs to be cleaned up. I did it with my ford ef wagon and it started, still have tohe problem once more, need more wiring to sort it out and maybe solder it on.
