Incorrect valve clearance
Incorrect air/fuel ratio
Low cylinder compression (eg sticking piston rings or worn components)

The reason for the black smoke is that it is not getting enough air to burn the fuel completely. It could be a blocked air filter, obstruction in the air intake system, blown turbo, hole in tube between intake manifold and turbo,or a fault with the fuel system and injectors.
SOURCE: My peugeot 407 hdi sw is saying depolution system
chek for a collapsed catalytic converter and/or a clogged exhaust system...if it only smokes when 1st started, it could need valve seals...chek for clogged charcoal canister too if equipped...
blocked filters, tank not venting properly
run the fault codes
take it to a specialist diesel shop for a proper diagnosis
