2006 Saturn ion 2, 2.2L my car is burning more gas than it use to could the code PO446 causing it to burn more gas?
Where are these parts located?
Plugged vapor canister
Faulty vent solenoid
Pinched or blocked EVAP hose
Faulty FTP sensor

i drove my vehicle about 30 miles speed up to 65 MPH with the scan tool connected i was checking live data before i start driving i remove the cooling fan relay on the scan tool the reading was from 183.2 to 185.0 on the highway when i came to a stop and let the engine run for about 2 minutes the reading went to 194.0 i do have a code PO128.
Usually a thermostat problem - replace it.

Possible causes are:
- Plugged vapor canister
- Faulty vent solenoid
- Pinched or blocked EVAP hose
- Faulty FTP sensor
Tech notes
Dirt and dust intrusion into the EVAP canister vent hose assembly, resulting in restricted air flow, may cause this condition.
When is the code detected?
- The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sets the P0446 code if the vacuum decay rate is greater than a predetermined value.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors.

Misnikie32 . .. I just had the same problem around the time you figured out your problem and I just got it fixed yesterday. For almost 3 weeks I had starting problems and I constantly smelled gas. The problem is a safety issue and the car needs to be recalled. The hose that is connected to the fuel pump is cracked. Since the hose is incorporated with the fuel pump, the entire mechanism needs to be changed. Look at spending about 700.00 . I informed saturn and told them my life was at danger. Please contact them on their website and goto your state's attorney general and launch a complaint, as well as the office of defective investigations and the NTSAB (google them). This needs to be brought to their attention and all owners of this car. I googled this and many other people are having this problem. Some are even on this forum. PLEASE DO THIS ! ! ! !

My car has had these symptoms. And just yesterday I started smelling gas. I will get it checked immediatly. If it is that I will file for a recall also.

I had the SAME problem...do you smell any fuel smells? Is your car getting less MPG and is does it have less excelleration? It is the Fuel Injector(s)...
Most likely...one or more has gone bad, I believe this is yet another common problem with the Saturn ION...hhhhmmmm I wonder why they went out of business...
