1. Connect the distributor's B+ (battery) terminal to a switched 12-volt source, such as the ignition switch.
2. Connect the distributor's tach terminal to the tachometer signal wire, if you have a tachometer.
3. Connect the distributor's ground wire to a good engine ground.
4. Connect the distributor's #1 spark plug wire to the #1 spark plug on the engine. The #1 spark plug is usually located on the driver's side front cylinder.
5. Connect the remaining spark plug wires in firing order sequence to the distributor cap terminals. The firing order for a Buick 455 engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
Here is the firing order and spark plug wire routing diagram for a 2006 Chevy Impala LT 3.9 V6:
Firing order: 1-2-3-4-5-6
Spark plug wire routing (starting from the driver's side):
Cylinder 1: connect to the coil tower closest to the driver's side headlight
Cylinder 3: connect to the coil tower next to cylinder 1
Cylinder 5: connect to the coil tower next to cylinder 3
Cylinder 2: connect to the coil tower closest to the passenger side headlight
Cylinder 4: connect to the coil tower next to cylinder 2
Cylinder 6: connect to the coil tower next to cylinder 4
Note: Make sure to route the wires properly to avoid cross-firing.
On your smart phones browser put in Make, model, 3.2 engine firing order. It will bring back the firing order sequence and from that you should be able to figure out the wiring sequence and which wire goes to which plug. All you need to know is where the number one plug is on the coil pack.
The cylinder order is 1,2,3 (rear row, left-to-right) and then 4,5,6 (front row, left-to-right).
When replacing spark plug wires or plugs, it's very helpful to do one at a time to avoid connecting them incorrectly.
Hope this helps,
