Yesterday I started my Honda Accord no problem and notice the speedometer wasn't working. Got to my destination turn my car off and came back 15 minutes later and it won't start. No clicking but sound

The battery and alternator is about a year-and-a-half old and the starter I just got replaced a couple months ago

It sound like ypur speed sensor is bad. Or the wire is broken or it could be the odometer that's cause the speedometer not working i changed the speed sensor and it work.. And for your car to make sound but no clicking and if all your lights on the dashboard then you have a problem with the iginition switch in the sterring. Jave to replace it

Thank you but I'm really trying to find out what it is for sure before I go out spending money on unnecessary things trying to fix it

I just tried to start it again and it acted like it wanted to for a Split Second in the headlights and turn signals came on but got dimmer and eventually fade it out so that's that early but the speedometer thing is going to be a hard one for me

Did you try jump starting it with another car to see if it will kick over and run

SOURCE: cutlass supreme wont start

It could possibly be the starter, but before you get that far make sure the Battery cables are connected very tight. If loose the car won't start or do anything. Also make sure the battery cable is grounded.

SOURCE: car won"t start. starter turns. Happened once before. started after 30-45min.

I would start by banging the bottom of the gas tank while you are cranking it over. If this causes it to start, replace the fuel pump. If it still doesn't start, there is a valve on the fuel rail on the top of the engine (you may have to remove plastic cover). Remove the plastic cap on the valve, and while you have someone cycle the ignition to the run position from the off position, depress the center tab on the valve and see if gas comes out. If it doesn't, replace the fuel pump. If it does, let me know and I will help you further. (note: replace fuel filer at same time.)

SOURCE: my 99 vw jetta will not turn over

Check your battery cables for tightness, especially your ground cable. Now you have a new battery, so you have eliminated that as the source of the problem. Turn on your headlights, do they go out or very dim when attempting to start the car? If so, you have a poor electrical connection somewhere - loose cable, bad cable, possibly bad ignition switch.

I just expiriance the same problems on my rover so i check it out and found that the engine spark fuse was out. I replaced the said fuse and their you go it started. You can find that fuse under the dashboard in the satellite 1 fuse box. it should be the 3rd one from the right. Good luck buddy hope that helps you out.

Usually it means the speed sensor in the transmission is failing.
The blinking light means your overdrive may not work.

D4 LIGHT WAS FLASHING...SO I TOOK MY 93 HONDA ACCORD TO THE DEALER. THEY PERFORMED A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION AND FINALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT, DID A COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE AND...

When our speedometer and odometer went out it in our 94 honda accord it was due to our vehicle speed sensor being bad... once we replaced it with a new one, everything worked fine. I'm not sure about the rpm indicator though because that wasn't affected in ours... I hope this helps

Speedometer not working in 1995 Honda Accord. When the speedomter does not work I notice that the heat fan stops blowing. The problem is sporadic but is getting worse.

Ignition switch? when it doesnt work, slowly try to twist the key in either direction, and see if they come back to life, if so, replace the ignition switch.

Car is losing power and speedometer not working

The alternator is dying...
It is not charging your battery. Don't use your headlights (big power drain) until you have the electrical checked.
AutoZone will analyze (free) w/o removing alternator (IN-CAR test)

Hope this helps, soon!

1995 honda accord speedometer and odometer not working

Sounds like either your speedometer cable, your nylon gear on the side of the tranny where the cable ties in, or the odometer itself is shot. One of those three will set you straight. If you are able, remove the cluster, take the cable off the back, and pull it out of the sheath. You will see if its broken or not from there. If not, slide it back into the sheath, then you have to find out where the sheath meets the tranny, and pull it off of there. Then, you can get someone else to watch the speedo as you turn the cable from the bottom. If it works, great, if not, then its your cluster/odometer/speedo. If it does work, the small gear in the transmission is shot.
