You need either Dot 3 or Dot 4 brake fluid for clutch cylinder. If the old oil in clutch cylinder oil container is red or yellow then its Dot 3 and if its Clear like water then its Dot 4. Never Mix dot 3 and dot 4 oil. Check your vehicle owner manual for correct type of oil.

For bleeding you need to open the valve near the brake caliper till all the air inside the fluid pipe is released and oil starts dripping. Also add fresh oil in clutch container so that you don't create air gaps while bleeding.

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

if you loosten the slave bleeder screw and push in the clutch pedal fluid should come out if not make sure someone holds down the pedal and tighten the screw then pump the clutch a few times and hold the pedal and open the screw if no fluid repeat a couple of times if still no fluid you need either a new master cylinder or just rebuild it( normally cheaper) and if you rebuild it make sure you flush all the lines of debris

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

SOURCE: clutch cylinder inside car is it broke

you have to bleed the air out of it. If there is not fluid leaking from the master cylinder on the firewall.it can leak on the inside of car or the out side if the master cylinder is bad.first make sure the reservoir stays full then open the bleeder on slave cylinder. this is called gravity bleeding. once fluid comes out, tighten bleeder, pump pedal one time loosen bleeder while holding clutch pedal down and then tighten. do this repeatedly until no air comes out. you can pump pedal several times, then hold and bleed however you like but I have better luck with individual pumps. just make sure that the lines hooked to slave cylinder are tight and there are no air leaks. and that the line does not go below the slave cylinder because sometimes air gets trapped in the lowest part of system.

SOURCE: how to bleed hydraulic clutch on 92 ford ranger

If there is no bleedr, the loosen the lie and get fluid to at lest that point. The bleeder, not having onwe is unlikely, no offemce, just make sure. If the bleeder is anywhere it dhould or would be at a point higher than the line on the slave cylinder down on the bell housing. Open it and let gravity takr over unti the fluid drips steasdy. Slowly depress clutch once to get fluid moving. If long term non usem The cylinders, master and slave, good luck may have leakage needing replacement.l good luc and be careful. be sure brakes are set and vehicle is in neutral when underneath. Engine need not be running.

How to bleed the clutch on a 1996Nissan Maxima

Hi, have you looked for the slave cylinder on the bell housing (Gearbox) follow the pipe from the Clutch fluid reservoir down to it, there should be a bleed nipple usually 8mm possibly 10mm. Find a length of good rubber pipe which will slide onto the nipple, open the bleed screw and put the other end of the pipe into a jar or receptacle to catch fluid. Go back to clutch fluid reservoir take off cap and fill to brim.
Then wait until gravity feeds the slave cylinder, when drops of fluid are seen in the jar/receptacle close the bleed screw. Pump the clutch when you feel resistance hold the pedal down and get someone to open bleed screw, whilst still keeping clutch pedal down close the bleed screw. Keep doing this until your pedal operates with full pressure. KEEP AN EYE ON FLUID LEVEL in clutch master cylinder. When done top to the correct level and replace cap. Hope this helped.

2000 jeep wrangler clutch has to pressure and thus wont allow me to put it in gear.

Check the clutch fluid level. If it's low, add some (takes brake fluid). There is a bleed valve down on the clutch slave cylinder on the bellhousing. Open the bleed valve and have someone push the clutch pedal slowly to floor, and hold. Close the bleed valve, and repeat until fluid comes out in a steady stream when the pedal is depressed. Your pedal should have pressure now, and the clutch should be working.
If no fluid is forced out the clutch master cylinder, into the line, and to the slave cylinder when clutch is pressed, then you may have a bad clutch master cylinder. If fluid does come out the bleed valve, but still no pressure on the pedal, it may be a bad slave cylinder.
Post back for more. Would like to know what you find out, and what the problem was, OB. Good luck.

Why does clutch leak off and wont go into gear 96 toyota tacoma when you push on clutch pedal goes to the floor it wont engage clutch to be able to put into gear

the most likely reason is either the clutch master cyl. needs to be replaced.or the.slave cyl. its mounted down on the transmation under the hood find the resivore for the clutch. check the fluid level.if its low , fill it back up , and look for signs of a leak
you will probally have to bleed out all of the air from the system.its done almost the same way as bleeding the brakes. Good Luck.

My 1996 Chevrolet K3500 Dually has a hydraulic clutch, how do I change the fluid and bleed it.

FIRST REMOVE ALL OLD FLUID FROM CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER YOU CAN USE A SIPHON YOU HAND PUMP.AUTO PARTS STORES SELLS THE HAND PUMP SIPHONS. THEY DONT COST MUCH AND KEEP FROM MAKING A MESS.SIPHON OUT MUCH AS YOU CAN THE OLD FLUID IN THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER.THEN POUR IN THE NEW FLUID DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID IN CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER.OKAY YOU NEED A HELPER.LOCATE THE SLAVE CYLINDER.REMOVE SLAVE CYLINDER HOLD SLAVE CYLINDER 45 DEGREES WITH BLEEDER SCREW LOCATED AT THE HIGHEST POINT.HAVE A SMALL DRAIN PAN UNDER SLAVE CYLINDER.HAVE HELPER FULLY DEPRESS AND HOLD THE CLUTCH PEDAL THEN OPEN BLEED SCREW.CLOSE THE BLEED SCREW AND HAVE HELPER RELEASE THE CLUTCH PEDAL.REPEAT THIS PROCESS UNTIL ALL THE OLD BRAKE FLUID AND AIR BUBBLES LEAVES THE HYDRALIC SYSTEM AND WHEN YOU CAN SEE GOOD STREAM CLEAN FLUID NO BUBBLES YOU HAVE GOOD SOLID CLUTCH ALL IS GOOD.MAKE SURE THROUGH THE BLEEDING PROCESS YOU DONT LET CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER RUN DRY OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.KEEP CLUTCH MASTER CYLINER FULL BRAKE FLUID WHILE DOING THE WHOLE BLEEDING AND FLUSHING PROCESS.
