Question about Saturn Cars & Trucks

Open Question

My 2007 Saturn Outlook wouldn't crank recently. A mechanic unlocked the steering wheel tilt and proceeded to slam it up and down several times. The car cranked right away what happened? Was the steering wheel not properly locked?

SOURCE: car stalls

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: Car will not crank sometimes unless you turn the key many times.

Check battery connections. Sometimes a weak connection will fail under very high loads like starting.

Where is the factory amp on a 2007 saturn outlook?

The factory amp is located underneath the steering wheel - just to the left, behind the panel below the steering wheel. Its a small rectangular box with about four wire clusters connected to it. If I can dig out my service manual,

I have a 2000 Pontiac grand am Se and just recently put my key in n it doesn't turn have to jiggle it until it turns on to start what does this mean

The key or lock cylinder parts are worn out. You either need to get a new key cut from a GOOD master key, or have the ignition switch replaced.

My Saturn 2008 Outlook is having power steering issues. When you are driving and foot on the gas fine but when you slow down to a stop hard to turn but as soon as you put your foot back on the gas it...

Check you're fluid levels again & top-up if need be.
Start the engine but stay in Park & then slowly turn the steering wheel from lock to lock 5 times.
Check the fluid levels again. (& check under the car for leaks)

If that hasn't fixed it, you'll need to find out whether you have a belt-driven or electric PS pump.
If it's mechanical, check that the belt is still in place & tche tension good.
If it's electric, check that the fuse hasn't blown & that the wiring is all attached & undamaged.

Best of luck.

Car has Tilt Steering and has play, you can take the wheel and move it about an inch up, down, left, right. My buddy owns a shop looked at it and said it should be safe. He can't fix it until he comes...

The problem doesn't sound like it's in the tilt mechanism. The tilt mechanism wouldn't cause it to have side to side movement. Chack everything holding the steering column itself.

Locked up steering wheel

I think your steering wheel may have been under tension when you parked it. It happens to everyone. Try turning the wheel the direction that it will move and turn the key with foot on brake to disengage the locking mechanism. If this doesn't work, reply back to this post and I'll help you further...MK

Can not remove the key from the ignition (2002 isuzu axiom)

I've recently had this same issue. I spreayed some key lock lubricant (Graphite based) into the key slot several times and it got a little easier but didn't quite solve the problem. I then figured out that if I tilt the steering wheel all the way up the key removes normally. Other than that the dealer wanted to replace the entire ignition lock to the tune of a couple of hundred bucks.
Good luck!!

Steering wheel moves back and forth when i brake 2004 ion

Sounds like your rotors are warped. First off, have the front wheels been off the car at any time recently? If so, someone may have reinstalled them and not torqued the lugs properly. Too much torque (or different torque on different lug nuts) can artifically warp the rotors. Also, hot rotors getting wet can warp (as if you slammed the brakes on or were braking severely on the way to the car wash, where you sprayed them down). Or, they could be just worn out. Chances are though that you'll need new rotors. Remember that when you change rotors, no matter how new the pads on your car may be, you need to put new brake pads on with them.
