SOURCE: where's the transmission dipstick on a 2000 saturn sl

The Saturn L series automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick. They are the "new breed" of transmissions that are SUPPOSED to be trouble free. There is a plug on the passenger side of the transmission by the drive axle It is 11mm bolt. start the vehicle in park on a level surface or hoist...at operating temp pull out the plug Fluid should just trickle out of the plug hole If no fluid comes out add fluid to trans until it does...Where do you add??? Red plug on top/center of trans. Plastic plugthat threads in Add fluid there....Good luck

2000 Mazda 623F. How many liters of transmission fluid does a Mazda 323F need? 2000 engine 16v automatic transmission.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to sub category.

Some are supposedly lifelong use! The normal way is to drain the ATF and measure it. You repace with the same amount. Overfilling causes problems.

Should i have to do a transmission flush on my 2000 4 door saturn?

Yes I would recommend a flush on any Saturn S series car with an automatic transmission, the main reason for that is if the fluid is kept in the transmission to long the dirty fluid wears out the pressure regulator bore inside the valve body on these transmissions(TAAT) causing problems with shifting into reverse when hot, requiring the valve body to get replaced in the transmission, so if your transmission is shifting normal I would get the fluid changed and a new filter installed to ensure the transmission maintains proper shift quality.

Cost of replacing transmission saturn le96

Depending on where you get the transmission it will run $800 to $2000 plus installation cost unless you do that yourself. It is usually cheaper to rebuild the transmission than replace it out right unless your converting from Manual to Automatic.

How to put a 3.8 liter in a 2000 cavalier

You can not put a 3.8 liter in to a 2000 cavalier, but you can put in a 3.4 liter. The 3.8 liter is to wide and will not fit the engine bay, the 3.4 can fit but tight and to replace the rear spark plugs. Your going to have to drop the engine again, if not rotate it forward to get enough room. First thing to do is measure the cavalier's engine cradle and fabricate the engine mounts using the engine cradle from the 3.4 liter . Once you have that, test fit to the engine clip on the cavalier with the 3.4. After the test fit, your going to have to fabricate the wheel bearing to take the bigger CV joints and may have to rebuild the CV joints to get the proper lengths. The accessory items i think are find where they are and the steering racks are fine, the other thing you may want to do is add a transmission cooler since the radiator will be taxed already to keep the 3.4 cooled unless your planing to go with the 5 speed which is a smaller transmission then the automatic as long as your downer car is a 5 speed so you don't have to worry about the lines to the clutch. Other then that, it's juts a transplant or the ECM and wire harness. The OEM dash gauge will work fine with the ECM. If there is a auto body shop around you, you can ask them for the engine mount measurements to the 3.4 on the cradle and the engine mount measurements on the cavalier with the 2.2 liter or what ever 4 cylinder you have. The other thing you can do also is spend $2000.00 for a turbo kit that just bolts right up which would get your car back on the road in 6 hour then 3 weeks if not longer. Good luck and keep me posted.

Location of motor mounts on 94 saturn sl1 where are they and how do you replace them? (all of them) or at least the major ones

There are four total mounts.

1. Upper engine mount located on the passenger side of the engine. Get this at the dealer, aftermarket, especially Anchor brand are garbage.

2. Lower engine mount, often refered to as a "dog bone" mount because of its shape. This one is located on the lower passenger side. You'll have to remove some splash shields to get to it. Aftermarket is OK.

3. Upper transmission mount, also refered to as a "dog bone" mount. Located under the battery.Aftermarket is OK.

4. Lower transmission mount. Located under the transmission. As with the top engine mount, dealer is better quality.

The two dogbone mounts usualy last a very long time, its the others that fail over time. Especially the upper one.
