Depends what you are working on in order to help. Did you vacuum the system before charging it with Freon? How much did you add to the system? How much does it hold? If there isn't enough Freon in it, the compressor won't come on until it gets enough Freon.

SOURCE: air condition compressor won;t kick in

Most likely a loss of refrigerant ( freon ) in the system. The A/C compressor uses a low pressure switch as a SAFETY to insure it wont turn on without freon in the system. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1995 z-28. air conditioner compressor won't kick

Your A/C pressure switch may have gone bad or the wire harness to it may have gone bad. The switch is along the low pressure line or on the A/C Accumulator ( looks like a silver canister) , Unplug the wire and you can jump it there and see if the clutch comes on, if it does try spreading the two tabs apart on the switch and clipping the wire back on. If it does not come back on you need to replace the switch, you can do it with out loosing to much R134A. Just got to be quick when you  remove the old one and placing the new one. The low side should have a reading of 30PSI to 50PSI and the high side should have 150PSI to 200PSI. Any other reading will give you poor A/C performance. Good luck and hope this helps.

No the freon is low around 80 lbs but the compressor won't start to pump in freon.

Put more freon, so that the high-pressure sensor going to close and your compressor will run.

On my 96 yukon the air won't get cold its not

if it WAS working then gradually just seemed to not get cold it sounds like freon is low. with the compressor cycling on-off it has some freon in it. just add a small amount. i'll be honest its best to have someone with the recycler machine do this it will save you from adding too much and possibly damaging the compressor. most shops have a freon service special around 99 bucks?

A/c on 97 chevy blazer v6 will not stay on unless I hot wire it and then it still blows hot air. what might be the next thing i check or do to find the problem?

It is probably low on freon. The low pressure switch will turn it off to protect the compressor because it needs the freon to circulate the oil. Hot-wiring it defeats the purpose of the low pressure switch and runs the compressor without oil. If you have not already destroyed your compressor by hot-wiring it, you can probably get it working better by charging the system.

A/c kicks on and off very fast and keeps on doing that i've check all the relays and fuses.

sounds like its low on freon, see if the front of the compressor or any of the fittings or lines are oily,if so youve found your leak. time to take it to an A/C person & have them check it out. it may just need a little shot of freon, if it was totally empty your compressor wouldnt even come on.

My ac doesnt work in my 2001 tahoe. i bought freon for it. the compressor is not kicking on when i turn the ac on, but the gage shows in the red when i hook it up to try and put freon in it. i shot a...

the a/c system needs a minimum pressure before the system will run. the system must have a leak so just buying freon may last a day or a few months depending on the size of the leak. also leaking freon into the air is ozone depleating, it should be recovered properly.

the system needs to be recoved of all freon. vacuum to -30psi held checked for leaks. (uv dye or nitrogen and soapy water). leaks fixed. vacuum to evacuate moisture and air. refilled with proper amount of freon (too much or too little make the air not as cold).
